Football: Eichelberger’s Top 10 vote

football_blog1The regular season reaches its’ final week, as county teams will look to lock up playoff berths and gain momentum heading into the CIF playoffs.

Going into this week of finales, here is how I voted for this week’s top 10 poll.


Eichelberger’s Top 10 Vote

1. Edison: The “Battle of the Bell” turned into another dominant showcase for the Chargers, who blanked rival Fountain Valley 24-0.

2. Mission Viejo: The Diablos stampede of the South Coast League continued with a 55-7 rout of San Clemente.

3. Servite: After beating Orange Lutheran 45-26, the Friars can clinch the Trinity League outright by beating JSerra Friday.

4. Dana Hills: The Dolphins set up a first place showdown with Mission Viejo by posting a 50-0 shutout of Aliso Niguel.

5. Los Alamitos: The Griffins pulled out a hard fought 21-19 win over Esperanza.

6. Fountain Valley: With standouts Middlebrooks and Ragland stymied by the Chargers defense, the Barons tasted defeat for the first time this season.

7. Orange Lutheran: The Lancers are now 0-6 all-time against Servite.

8. Mater Dei: A 41-24 thumping of Santa Margarita puts the Monarchs in position to claim a playoff spot with a win over St. John Bosco Friday.

9. La Habra: After dispatching Sunny Hills 41-14, the Highlanders will battle Fullerton for the Freeway League title Friday.

10. Tustin: The Tillers 30-0 win over El Dorado was their first triumph over the Golden Hawks since 2004.

The next three:

11. Newport Harbor: The Sailors had little trouble in defeating Marina 49-0.

12. Trabuco Hills: The Mustangs have scored 137 points in their last three wins.

13. San Clemente: Even after a blowout loss to Mission Viejo, the Tritons can clinch a playoff spot by beating Capistrano Valley at home.
