The pool of Division II boys water polo contender Santiago of Corona (23-6) has been vandalized, Santiago coach Kevin Callister confirmed Monday night.
Callister said some type of feces was placed in the pool. The waste has been removed and the pool is undergoing a "super" chlorination for 48 hours, he said.
Santiago, seeded fourth in Division II, has moved its practices to Roosevelt HS. The Sharks also have tentatively scheduled their second-round match Thursday against visiting La Canada for Roosevelt.
Callister, however, is hopeful the game will be played at Santiago and said the site will likely be a "game day" decision.
If the Sharks win Thursday, they could meet up with fifth-seeded Villa Park in the quarterfinals Saturday at a site to be determined.
Santiago features two excellent left-hander players in center Evan Vardayou and Danny Mundy. The Sharks defeated a short-handed Villa Park squad earlier this season at the Villa Park Classic.
Santiago's pool also serves the school's girls team and the Extreme club's 14-and-under girls preparing for the Speedo Cup.
