football_blogHere's a look at the Sunset League playoff picture:

SUNSET LEAGUE

Edison (10-0, 5-0): The Chargers took the league title outright with a victory over Marina on Friday. It is the first time any team has gone undefeated in league since Esperanza did it in 2005. Now the Chargers should be looking at the No. 1 seed in the Pac-5 Division playoffs.

Los Alamitos (8-2, 3-2): Los Alamitos will be the league's No. 2 representative after Newport Harbor's victory over Esperanza created a three-way tie for second place. The Griffins won the coin flip held Friday at Valencia High.

Fountain Valley (8-2, 3-2): The Barons finished in a three-way tie for second place and will be the Sunset League's No. 3 representative after Friday's coin flips.

Newport Harbor (6-4, 3-2): Newport Harbor beat Esperanza to move into a three-way tie for second place, but the Sailors didn't get any breaks in the coin flips to determine playoff positions. Newport Harbor needs to be selected for the Pac-5's lone at-large spot to make the playoffs.

Esperanza (4-6, 1-4): The Aztecs were eliminated with their loss to Newport Harbor.

Marina (1-9, 0-5): The Vikings are out.

  • anonymous says:

what do you mean when you say they "own a tie breaker?"

  • ko says:

That means they won head to head.

  • The Barons have been looking for that rainbow every since I started watching the Bell Game in 1990, got a feeling this game won't be any different than the others

    GO BARONS GO!!!!!

  • 2002tony says:

If Los Al loses to FV, and NH beats Epsy, and if Bishop Amat loses to ND , Crespi beats Loyola, the at large committee will have to pick between 8-2 Bishop Amat and 7-3 Los Al.

If Bishop Amat beats ND and Crespi beats Loyola, it will be a coin flip for the Serra league champion, which means 2 of them are in and the other is left to be an at large team, which at that point you would have either Crespi at 6-4, or Bishop Amat at 9-1, or ND at 8-2 wanting to be the at large team..

If Los Al beats FV and NH wins, you will have a 3 way tie for 2nd, and a coin flip to pick 2nd ,3rd, and the team to be the at large hopeful. That could be , FV at 8-2 up against ND at 8-2 or BA at either 9-1 or 8-2

Wont be easy for the committee.

  • Dee says:

COME ON LOS AL LETS GO ALL THE WAY EDISON WAS BS EVERYONE WHO SEEN IT KNOWS THAT YALL ARE BETTER THEN EDISON IT WAS JUST BAD PLAY CALLIN NEWPORT HARBOR WON BECAUSE LIL ROB WAS OUT AND WE DIDNT HAVE A QB BUT NOW WE HAVE A QB SO WE WONT LOSE A GAME IN THE PLAYOFFS COME ON LIL NICK KEEP SMASHIN THEY CANT SEE U ARON KEEP HITTIN HARD AND SMASHIN EVERYTHING THATS COMES YOUR WAY AND BENNETT KEEP DOING YOUR THINK ON DEFENSE INTO BARNES REALIZES THE TYPE OF RECIEVER YOU ARE LETS GO LOS AL #1 FOR REAL

  • Mamma Sue says:

Okay Dee . . . if this would of happened, if that could of happened, bad play calling blah blah, only if so and so wasn't out . . . . w h a t e v e r!! Bottom line is Edison beat everyone in League and that is because they are better than everyone in League. So face the fact that YALL aren't better than Edison, and it's not BS and everyone that seen it knows it. (By the way, spelling in upper case letters is very annoying)

  • contrillion says:

Edison won't beat Los Al again because Edison won't have to beat Los Al again. Los Al is good, but will lose before ever getting another crack at Edison.
