PACIFICA (4-3-1, 3-0) VS. CYPRESS (7-1, 3-0)

Where, when: Western High, Thursday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Pacifica’s mission – stop Akeelie Muhammad. Mission: Impossible. Muhammad is the county’s second-leading rusher, with 1,463 yards, and is averaging 12 yards a carry. In three league games, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound senior has scored 13 touchdowns and is averaging 253 yards a game.

Pacifica throws the ball well – quarterback Mario Nava has completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,310 yards and 10 touchdowns – but this one is all about the Mariners defense’s ability to handle Muhammad. Few defenses can; Pacifica’s likely is not one of them.

Artesia HS school district is closer to Downey. AK should have went to Warren HS. Could you imagine AK and Jesse Callier in the same back field? Now that would be unbelievable or should I say unstoppable.

Good Game last night for Cypress. They definitely dominated Pacifica even though I thought Pacifica shot themselves in the foot several times. Not being able to punch it in inside the five?C'mon.
