Pacific Coast League
IRVINE (6-2, 3-0) VS. LAGUNA HILLS (6-2, 3-0)
Where, when: Laguna Hills High, Friday, 7 p.m.
Outlook: When coach of the year candidates are discussed, we all should remember Bruce Ingalls of Laguna Hills. The Hawks went undefeated and won the CIF-Southern Section’s Southern Division championship last year. The loss of many key players to graduation was expected to bring Laguna Hills down to Earth, but the Hawks are flying high again. They lost two of their first three games this season, but those were to Southwest Division contenders El Toro and Trabuco Hills.
In league, Laguna Hills is scoring 33 a game and allowing five a game. The Hawks’ defense will get tested, no doubt, by Irvine and running back DaVonte Young. Young, a 5-8, 165-pound freshman sensation, is averaging 197 rushing yards a game and last week ran for 374 yards and five touchdowns against San Juan Hills. Laguna Hills can’t stop Young, but controlling him should be enough for a victory.

The boy is just that a boy. He will not be able to put up those type of numbers against Laguna Hills' defense. The defending CIF Champs are over their early season jitters and are ready to bang.
HAHAHA Laguna Hills and Irvine suck. The only decent teams they play each year are each other. I cant wait until next year when Laguna hills plays with the big dogs in the SCL.
Bruin,
When I saw the kid play he looked pretty solid to me.
He may not be enough to decide the outcome, but it would not surprise me if the Young man goes for a 100.
