EL DORADO (5-2-1, 3-0) AT NO. 10 TUSTIN (7-1, 3-0)

Where, when: Tustin High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: El Dorado is the one team in the league that can give Tustin a challenge. The Golden Hawks are solid on defense, giving up only two points a game in league, and their passing game gives them comeback potential. And it can be difficult for a running team like Tustin to prepare its defense for a passing team; you need to be able to throw the ball in practice like your upcoming opponent will in a game. But Tustin has so much quickness on defense that might not be such a problem this week. Matching touchdowns with Tustin also can be a challenge.

The Tillers, led by Anthony Wilkerson, the 6-foot, 215-pound Stanford-committed senior whose 1,675 rushing yards and 239 rushing yards a game are county highs, score early and often.

Winner: Tustin

  • Yes this will be quite interesting………almost everything points to Tustin but i just cant get over their lack of passing game, and as ive spoke with a few people, alot of film being watched of the La Habra victory in the finals last year, now can ELDO duplicate a D like that …..we will see , in a mild upset ELDO wins in my opinion 28-24

Watching the 2nd half of the Canyon game from 3 weeks ago would do better. Since it has this year’s team on it. Best defensive stand this year so far against a Wilkerson led team. They played lights out football in the 2nd half. Keeping Wilkerson in check. Their offense just couldn’t catch a break.

      As for the game itself.

Speed kills. And Tustin has a lot of it. I just hope they can hold out for 48 minutes. First to 21 wins.

If El Do can contain Wilkerson they might win. They don’t have stop him just keep him out of the end zone. What the El Do has to do defensively is shut down the corners and force everything inside. The problem with that is Tustins big, fast O-line, they’ll grind out four of five yards a carry. But if El Do can match up man for man they might wear them down. If EL Do can play them tight and keep the score close by the fourth quarter the Tustin “Ironmen” may start to run out of gas, and EL Do can take advantage of Tustin’s small roster. What Tustin likes to do is score early and often and build that lead just in case they get tired in the 4Q, and hopefully their lead will be insurmountable.

It’s going to be tough game for both schools. El Do’s offense needs to get on track early to keep Tustin’s offense off the field. If they do they might have a chance. The problem with that is though is Tustin’s defense is pretty good and can make big plays (turnovers) when it counts. Their DB’s (which includes Wilkerson), are fast, passing on them is tough. Passing teams need to take notice of Tustins 17 interceptions so far this year.

With all that said I love Tustin’s “Ironman” football, and they run the double wing offense like no one else. I think they’ll avenge last years loss to El Do and win 42-17.

Country….this years team last years team geez for the past 5 years teams the all look identical…..run, run, run, and they all seem to get beat in the big match-up…thus no rings just bridesmaids saalways no different this year Miller is out-coached alot….you know it , I know it and although he has produced many of talented players …he just doesnt produce championship caliber teams …. not my stat just the facts….. so if tustin wins this one and it will be very close by the way i am pickin EL DO , neither school can beat La Habra or Trabuco Hills ….. so it doesnt matter in my world whether they watch La Habra stop that vaunted O last year or 4 years ago ……. it is what it is and no passing game …..no rings better holler a Miller…….AGAIN

    • MJ says:

Oooooooopssss…..Tustin 30 el do 00000000. Now THAT’S a FACT! TRABUCO???….don’t make me laugh at that one. Tustin hasn’t even played trabuco! Get a clue.

  • unknown says:

bighsfootball tustin doesn’t have alot of players like other schools. most of the players go both ways. that takes a lot out of players and stop living in the past. last years team is last year. might not have any rings yet but everyone knows tustin can bring it especially towards the end of the year. el dorado is a good team and is always # 1 or 2 every year in there league. no doubt about that and there offense is great but tustin is still tough and they have athletes to win this game. Tustin takes it.

  • nojoke says:

you guys dont know anything… just take note from last years game

  • bruin4ever says:

Tustin is just too bruising a team for this El Dorado team to hang with. If it was an El Dorado team from a few years ago, I would go with the Hawks.
