No. 2 Servite (7-1, 3-0) vs. No. 6 Orange Lutheran (5-3, 3-0)
Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Cerritos College

Outlook: The Lancers appear to be hitting their stride after a slow start. The Lancers opened the season losing three of their first four games. Since then, Orange Lutheran is on a four-game winning streak.

The Lancers pulled out a 24-17 road victory last week against St. John Bosco. Damani Wilson rushed for 144 yards and Chance Baker had 83.

Lancers quarterback Mike Markovsky didn’t have his best performance last week, did score a pair of second half rushing touchdowns to assist in the comeback.

Servite’s only loss came against Edison, Sept. 25. Since then, the Friars have also won four consecutive games.

The Friars defeated Santa Margarita last week, 48-26.

Chris Nicholls gained 235 yards (157 receiving and 78 rushing) and scored three touchdowns against the Eagles. Can the Lancers slow him down?

Quarterback Cody Fajardo is the key to the offense. He has rushed for 583 yards and five touchdowns and has completed 100 of 141 passes (70.9 percent) for 1,071 yards with seven touchdowns.

It is possible that we could actually have one league champion in the Trinity League this season.

Who will it be?

  • The Guild says:

Most important game of the season for both squads. Always a pride issue for Servite. They need to stay focused on this game and every play of this game. High energy and quiet confidence and execution will win out. Friars 28-17.

  • UHWarrior says:

Servite is alot better than their record indicates (they should be 8-0), if they play Edison again in the playoffs Servite wins hands down. OLu is just getting their playoff stride going but Servites defense will step up big, in this defensive battle. Friars 21- Lancers 14

  • bighsfootballfan says:

Dont know about that UHWarrior. beat Edision hands down???????and you got only beating OLU by a TD……where is the logic behind this i dont get it i do respect your comments and your knowledge of the game but this one has me baffled……..Servite beats Edision hands down….ok…but Servite is only a RD better than OLU……..ok so what does hands sown mean a 21 point margin???? help me out here………anyway Servite is alot better than OLU and wins easily Servite 40 OLU 17

    • The Guild says:

I won’t assume to put Warrior’s thoughts down here, but I understand. The Friars came off an extremely emotional effort vs Crespi and the toll of competing against very successful programs in Clovis West and LB Poly, prior to the Edison game. They got whipped. Since then, the Friars have been focused and exude even temperament and effort to get the job done. MD loses to OL, yet beats CC and takes the Chargers into OT.
It’s the old axiom of “on any given Friday nite” and the extent that emotion plays is a great topic of discussion and how it effects the margin is anyone’s guess.
      Go Friars! Credo.

  • whatshisname says:

how much better is their record supposed to be warrior. their one loss was legit, and really doubt they woul beat edison in a rematch, and neither beat mv. so since I promised a freind I will back off friars and call this one a tie at the stroke of midnight. and guild if your such a loyal friar alum why all the lol for monarchs. its like a true trojan fan rooting for the bruins, whats up with that.

    • The Guild says:

There you go again lil bro, misrepresenting my statements. I haven’t rooted for the Monarchs per se. One of the qualities I’ve learned and tried to impart on others (you included) is RESPECT. I am respectful of lots of programs, including Edison and MV, but believe the Friars will be standing at the end. I believe that MD can compete with anyone and they have proven that with their win vs Corona Centennial and there overtime loss to the Chargers.
I don’t need to defend my loyalties and choices to anyone and there are plenty of bloggers that carry similar feelings. I do appreciate you piggybacking my comments “whatchama” and it helps make more sense of them.

  • bighsfootballfan says:

Cmon fellas Servite, MV, Edision, MD, Dana HIlls, FV they are all better than OLU, no disrespect here but its nitty gritty must wins for all and with that being said upsets will be few and far between….the cream always rises and unfortunatly for OLU they are not cream this year more like the middle of the road team with afew talented playerss …..Servite in a romp!!!!

  • UHwarrior says:

Big HS- You’re right. What was I thinking. Servite is playing alot better now then when they played Edison. Servite did play some emotional games previously, and I think Servite was caught off guard by a very good Edison Squad. (Servite played terrible the next week as well, and somehow beat a very good Chapperal team in the Inland Empire). But for me to say that Servite would win hands down, probably not. Edison is also playing better now then when they played Servite. Do I think Servite would beat Edison in the PAC-5 playoffs? Yes.

  • UH.Thanks for your explanation and just thinkin of that match-up again Servite/Edision wouldnt want to miss it and i agree theyServite definetly on the up-swing an vise -versa for Edision havent looked especially sharp last couple but still have found ways to win……….Maybe just maybe it will happen, and i think it would be good for HS football in the area!!!

  • The Guild says:

Wow! This post’s comments have become one huge mutual admiration society. All we need now is for Fryer to chime in and we’ll have the whipped cream on the pie!

  • UHwarrior says:

Guild- Hey, when you get called on the carpet, you gotta fess up.

  • The Guild says:

I’m there with all of ya, in fact, if you google Guild or the olde English version, Gilde, you’ll get the spirit of my moniker.
We all love hs football and the value of sharing thoughts and loyalties, the right to agree to disagree. It’s all good!

    • whatshisname says:

ya know I promised a friend I d back off the friars but all this mushy gushy lovey dovey stuf is killin me. so for the sake of my guilding I got to make abold and I mean bold prediction[and no I havent left the planet,at least not since jerry died] but here we go. olu34 sevite 7.come on guild rip me baby rip me

      • Clan #1 says:

        Some friend you are… LOL!!

      • The Guild says:

Too much “ridin that train” “whatchama”!. Is Fajardo and Nichols both suspended? Even so, the depth of underclassmen that are beating each other up daily should be enough to hold OL at bay!
My lil bro, stick some “Sugar Magnolia” on the turntable or pull out an old Kingfish album and take the edge off. You’ll get thru this disillusion and come to your senses by the finals and be beggin to climb on the wagon!
        Peace and Credo!

  • The Guild says:

I must be missin something besides my youthful good looks. Servite playing in a game that could lead to the first outright championship in Trinity history and one thinks that they would give up more points than they have all season, much less, end up on the short side of the score? You folks need to set the pipe down for a second.
Defense will hold fast in this game and don’t be surprised by a lower scoring output than most expect. This is a rivalry and will be hard hitting and mistakes will pay the price. The big edge on turnover ratio goes to the Friars, though OL is no slouch. Looking forward to a hard fought victory by the team in BLACK.

  • Glen Chervin says:

    Guild,
    I think you are right.
    O Lu 21 Servite 17.
I agree WHN needs to get off the pipe.

  • The Guild says:

That’s how rumors get started “whatchama” and it’s a rumor that the Friars will be upended by OL. I think all will be fine in Friardom, as it is in Clanville and heaven. I hear that Jerry has a new band and might need a new drummer, but don’t apply yet, put down that pipe!

  • whatshisname says:

come on guild enough with the smoke reference unless your like all the small minded that think thats the ticket to the best show that ever was. any ways Im just wonderin what you ment about suspended.

  • The Guild says:

My apologies “whatchama” and my reference to “suspended” is a reaction to those comments regarding OL as the winner of tomorrow nites battle. They are NOT suspended and all fans, please understand my insensitive comments, at times.
Servite would need a catostrophic event of the type of above reference to derail them. They will put forth the effort tomorrow nite, be assured.

  • anonymous says:

I’m expecting a Huge upset this weekend. Just not sure which game it will be. My instinct usually is accurate on these things. It can’t be the Mission / SC game, could it? Espy / Los Al? Or maybe this one with Servite and OL. I can feel it in my bones.

  • tdboy36 says:

    OLu – 10
    Svt – 7

Special Teams and field position are going to be the deciding factors in this one.
