No. 17 Laguna Hills (6-2, 3-0) vs. No. 25 Irvine (6-2, 3-0)
Friday, 7 p.m. at Laguna Hills High
Outlook: Fourteen games and counting. Laguna Hills, in its final year in the Pacific Coast League, brings its 14-game unbeaten streak into contest against the Vaqueros.
After a tough start (1-2), the Hawks have started to resemble last year’s team. Laguna Hills has allowed 34 points in their previous five games.
Offensively, running back Matt Martindale has 516 of 670 yards during the Hawks’ five-game winning streak.
Irvine has won five of its previous six, since losing to Kennedy. If the Vaqueros are able to pull off the upset, then DaVonte Young will certainly have an impact on the result. The freshman running back has rushed for 1,183 yards and 15 touchdowns in six games. He has posted games of 142, 160, 202, 245 and 374 yards. He has been held under 100 only once (60 against Cypress).
Will the Hawks be able contain Mr. Young?
Is this the game when the Hawks’ streak finally ends?
Or will they ride off into the South Coast Conference with another PCL title in their hands?

If LH doesn’t roll to another CIF championship this year then somethings wrong…they are in the wrong division and the wrong league. Thankfully this is their last year.
