
With teams looking to continue their march toward the CIF playoffs, here is a look at some of Tuesday’s action.
In the Pacific Coast League:
No. 5 Corona del Mar 3, Irvine 0: Behind 10 kills from Sydney Brombal and 32 assists and 10 digs from Madison Smith, the Sea Kings (17-3, 7-0) continued their undefeated run through league play with a 25-17, 25-9, 25-19 win over the Vaqueros at Irvine High.
Beckman 3, San Juan Hills 0: Lydia Bai recorded 11 kills, while Laurie Goodman had a team-high 24 assists, as the Patriots (21-6, 6-1) swept the Stallions 25-20, 25-11, 25-21 at Beckman High.
In the Freeway League:
No. 6 Troy 3, Sunny Hills 0: Rachel Jensen and Si-Si Hensley had a team-high nine kills, while Kristin Brosamer chipped in eight kills, as the Warriors (20-3, 7-0) swept the Lancers 25-8, 25-7, 25-6 at Sunny Hills High.
In the South Coast League:
No. 8 San Clemente 3, Tesoro 0: Alexa Strange put down 18 kills and Chelsea Heier dished out 43 assists to lead the first place Tritons (14-8, 7-0) past the Titans 25-12, 25-17, 25-13 at Tesoro High.
Mission Viejo 3, Aliso Niguel 1: Sophie Rowe had a team-best 15 kills, while Kyra Goodman passed out 28 assists to lead the host Diablos (12-10, 5-2) over the Wolverines 25-13, 21-25, 25-12, 25-12.
In the Empire League:
Kennedy 3, Pacifica 1: Sunny Barraza had a team-high 16 kills, as the Fighting Irish (6-5, 4-3) defeated the Mariners 25-22, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21 at Kennedy High.
In the Academy League:
St. Margaret’s 3, Oxford Academy 0: Savannah Holte, Jordan Hopper, and Ali Robinson each had seven kills to guide the first place Tartans (13-1, 8-0) over the host Patroits 25-20, 25-14, 25-14.
Sage Hill 3, Brethren Christian 1: The host Lightning (10-9, 6-1) posted a 25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20 win over the Warriors behind 12 kills from Lyndsey Kish.
Whitney 3, Crean Lutheran 2: Despite 11 kills from Sarah Gumpert, the host Saints fell in five sets to Wildcats 20-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18, 10-15.
In the Sea View League:
Foothill 3, Woodbridge 2: Jessica Frierson and Janessa Lee combined for 23 kills to lead the Knights over the Warriors 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-7 at Foothill High.
Northwood 3, El Toro 1: Kelsey Groot produced a team-high 21 kills, while Katrina Doherty added 16 kills, as the Timberwolves (9-6, 4-3) rallied to defeat the Chargers 16-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20 at Northwood High.
I check the girls volleyball info twice a week and so far have not seen any results for the Garden Grove League. GGHS is undeafed in league, so far NO COVERAGE! I know wer’e not the biggest but the girls still play, doesn’t seem fair… why no coverage?
