A scheduling mix up postponed a meeting of the county’s top two teams earlier this week.
Now, No. 1 Newport Harbor visits No. 2 Los Alamitos on Thursday at 5:45 p.m. at Los Al High.
Barring any upsets (like Newport Harbor-Esperanza today), the match will decided the Sunset League championship.
Newport Harbor defeated then No. 1 ranked Los Alamitos in four games in the first meeting, in which Los Al played without Jane Croson. The Sailors played without starting setter Mackenzie Campbell. Croson is expected to play, while the Sailors are expected to be without Mackenzie Campbell and backup middle blocker Claire Castillo, who is out with a knee injury.
Newport Harbor is 6-0. Los Al is 5-1. The Griffins won the title last season, going 10-0. The teams split the crown in 2007.
