Calhoun’s Games to Watch: San Clemente vs. Tesoro

The top games on the Week 8 schedule:
No. 13 San Clemente (4-3, 1-1) vs. No. 12 Tesoro (3-4, 0-2)
Thursday, 7 p.m. at Tesoro High
Outlook: The playoff lives of both teams are on the line here.
San Clemente needs a victory because it still has to play Mission Viejo (Nov. 6). Tesoro, plain and simple, just needs a victory.
The two-time defending South Coast League champions lost a close game to Dana Hills, Oct. 16 and then got overwhelmed last week by Mission Viejo, 60-14. Tesoro was never able to play its game against the Diablos, who hit them fast and often.
Can they rebound? Will they be able to get their running game going against the Tritons?
San Clemente is also coming off of a one-sided loss, falling to Dana Hills, 38-14 last week. That was San Clemente’s first loss to Dana Hills since 1991. Can they rebound?
Tesoro has won the previous two meetings by a total of eight points, considering how important this game is for both you should likely expect another close outcome.
Which team’s playoff hopes will still be alive after the game?

Tesoro looked terrible against Mission Viejo. But then again Mission Viejo is probably the best team in the county and maybe the state. San Clemente just doesn’t have the horses this year. Either way whatever team wins will be bounced in the first round of the playoffs.
I agree, hope the Titans can get their OL going. Very embarassing
so far. Players on both teams will be home for Thankgiving weekend
Mission Viejo the best team in the County??????????? Are you kidding me?? They beat up a bad Tesoro club, I think Mater Dei would give em all they want , Dana Hills,La Habra,Los Al,Servite,FV,Newport Harbor,Trabuco Hills,OLu, all these teams are as good if not better than MV and on any given night the games would be great and close…..Edision would kill em and is the best team in the county and would give any team in State a run but the best teams in the state arent from the OC, unfortunately!!
How do you cure the dropped passes & fumbles? If San Clemente coaches can figure out a good solution, they will make a game of it.
I was looking up San Clemente’s results against well coached teams over the last few years.
They do very poorly against well coached teams, and I for one believe Tesoro is a well coached team.
Mission Viejo is a great team this year, and Coach Johnson had something to prove, so they took it to overdrive.
My predictions of the Calhoun 6 are;
Tesoro
Mater Dei (it may be very close)
Edison (probably better than MV)
Orange Lutheran
Laguna Hills
Fountain Valley
p.s. Why is LH crying about their new league but the new school San Juan isn’t? Isn’t Laguna Hills a much bigger school and San Juan?
San Clemente, doesn’t have any horses this year. They have one Quaterback and One running back. This team needs to find football playersssssss. Two kids on a football team doesn’t make a complete team! In my experience…….. who is the leader of this team? WHo did the coaches choose to be vocal and get the kids Pumped up for a game. My guess is no one! When a team of a Caliber like ….San Clemente …….. puts there HOPE on two players! Well that spells DIASTER! I hope the coaches learned from this DEBACLE.
