What happened: The Breakers captured eight of nine singles sets to defeat the host Monarchs, 14-4, in a nonleague match Wednesday afternoon at Los Caballeros Racket Club.

Records: Laguna Beach 9-5, 5-0; Mater Dei 6-7, 4-2

Impact: There wasn’t much at stake during Wednesday’s contest. It was just a good reason to get together and play tennis. Mater Dei was coming off a 10-8 loss to Orange Lutheran on Tuesday, and played without their normal No. 3 singles and doubles. The Breakers were without their No. 3 singles player.

Sweeps: Laguna Beach’s No. 1 and 2 singles, Madeline Jaeger and Taylor Nederlander and the Breakers’ No. 1 and 2 doubles, Haley Moss and Claire Jaeger and Bianca Scanga and Alison Azera.
