It doesn’t matter what the coaches think. There are rules to follow.
Great, let the boys play their game but in the end, NEWPORT needs to forfeit the game if they win. NEWPORT won, NEWPORT forfeits. I can’t see any other outcome by CIF. A coach of Lynch’s experience knew the rules. If CIF allows the results to stand, then let’s go back and let the foreign goalie play for CdM last year. And what about the Euros for Foothill and and the one for Katella.
WHY HAVE CIF if we are not going to follow rules?
And let’s put the JSerra games back to wins. After all, the ineligible player situation was harmless and innocent there. The Head Coach even self reported. Let’s put JSerra back on the scoreboard.
I am just wondering if there is double standard for some teams and prejudicial decisions for other teams. Let’s not step backwards but move forward with fair and righteous decisions.
letsplayball couldn’t have said it better!
right on letsplayball!!!!
How does Lynch get away with this with out some consequences. He has been around for ever he knows the rules. He represent our National Youth Team as the head coach. Why would we want that kind of individual to teach our kids in ODP?
i think forfeiting the tournament they won is a consequence….
Whenever Lynch called CIF, it was after Albano called CIF on Tuesday. I think this public outcry on this message board says wonders.
You are right about “What consequences should Lynch face”.
The first thing is that the two water polo players did not play in the league game yesterday. However, Lynch did not serve out any game suspension. He should also face a 1 or 2 game suspension. Forfeiting the game is one thing but there are always those like that “Magacutty” that will say that it doesn’t matter if Newport forfeits the championship. The best team won like Dan Albano said. Infact, AT NEWPORT’S EXPENSE, the boys from the games in the tournament should be brought to NEWPORT and a new championship ceremony should commence. This would include bringing Miramonte back to Southern California. This would ensure that Lynch and Newport would learn that cheating serves no benefits. And Dan, sorry you blew it by not saying those words that Fryer said, “If you have an ineligible player in for one play, the team forfeits”. I don’t see how you didn’t ask that question yourself when you called up CIF. Some might say to me to cool it, Dan is a good guy. But this is something that Dan, you should think about when covering sports.
great comments letsplayball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
let’s see how coverage continues with Newport and it’s ineligible freshman player situation.
looking forward to reading about albano’s compreshensive reporting feedback.
Did anone see teh game against Wilson? What did the two Newport players do to get game misconducts — sounds like they were a little over agressive maybe?
Why have you purged some great comments?
Is the truth too hurtful or hard for the readers to swallow?
Jason Lynch wants to win like every other coach out there, and maybe everyone wants to jump on him now, but like him or not personally, he has consistently produced good players, good students and has been good for high school water polo in Orange County. Anyone who watched him for for a long time would not judge him or his program by one incident, there are many others that don t get told that show his dedication to the sport and all the kids….not a newport parent or fan, not even fond of how this all played out, but recognize that we need coaches out there who care and programs like Newport and Jason has done a good job with both
