Football: Week 5 By the numbers

football_blog2Here is a recap of the action from Week 5, according to the numbers:

6 – The number of Villa Park turnovers forced by California of Whittier to hand the Spartans’ their first loss of the season, 27-14 Thursday.

2 – Rushing touchdowns scored by Loara’s Howard Gauta in Thursday’s 34-6 victory over Magnolia. The junior now has 13 touchdowns this season.

5 – Touchdowns scored by Saddleback Valley Christian’s William Hinn (four rushing, one receiving) in a 54-51 victory over Fairmont Prep Thursday.

296 – Rushing yards gained by Los Alamitos running back Nick Richardson to lead the Griffins to a 21-6 victory over Narbonne of Harbor City. Richardson also scored two touchdowns.

19 – Points allowed by the Los Alamitos defense through five games this season.

600 – Total yards gained by Dana Hills in Friday’s 57-0 victory over El Modena.

2 – Consecutive games in which Sunny Hills running back Jae Byun has topped the 200-yard mark. He rushed for 269 yards against University Friday. He rushed for 231 last week against Godinez.

241 and 5 – Rushing yards and touchdowns for Cypress running back Akeelie Muhammad as the Centurions defeated Irvine, 48-0.

4 – Touchdowns scored by Santa Ana’s Frank Nerida (three rushing, one receiving) in a 54-13 victory over La Quinta.

397 – Rushing yards gained by Capistrano Valley Christian in Friday’s 60-38 victory over Eastside Christian.

4 – Touchdown passes thrown by Saddleback quarterback Tino Candelas to lead the Roadrunners in a 35-25 victory over Godinez.

151 – Rushing yards by Valencia fullback Steve Logovii in a 41-13 victory over Brea Olinda. Logovii also scored four touchdowns.

5-0 – JSerra’s nonleague record for the second consecutive season. The Lions defeated Katella, 31-11 Friday.

240 and 17 – Rushing yards gained and points scored by Esperanza in the second half of Friday’s 24-0 victory over Centennial of Compton. The Aztecs rushed with 332 yards in the game.

11 – Consecutive passes completed by Ocean View quarterback Nolan Tippy in Friday’s 20-10 victory over University. Tippy finished 18 of 23 for 172 yards.

190 – Rushing yards gained by Garden Grove running back Sean Young as the Argonauts defeated Santa Ana Valley, 20-14.

123 and 3 – Rushing yards and touchdowns by Capistrano Valley’s Clay Guess in a 28-7 victory over Santa Monica.

5 – Rushing touchdowns scored by Huntington Beach running back Jack Dilbeck as the Oilers defeated San Juan Hills, 49-35.

242 and 5 – Rushing yards and touchdowns for Orange Lutheran running back Damani Wilson as the Lancers defeated Banning of Wilmington, 28-7.

9 – Seconds remaining in the game when La Habra running back Joshua Quezada scored a 2-yard touchdown and two-point conversion to lead the Highlanders to a 29-28 victory over San Clemente.

100 – Interception returned for a touchdown by La Habra’s Dominick Sierra.

1 – The number of victories Newport Harbor coach Jeff Brinkley needs to reach the 200-career victory mark. The Sailors have lost two consecutive games.
