Looks like #20 Josh Barut had some big hits for the Griffins’ defense.

    Los Al defense impresses again

  • lhfan says:

looks like big plays ruled still good ex for la habra as long as there healthy

  • John says:

It speakes well of the Highlanders coaching staff to keep playing Los Alamitos every year. You get better by playing better and bigger teams. Seems this might be the most Los Al scored on La Habra in a while though…Watch LH take their league again this year GO HIGHLANDERS

  • whoknows says:

I had heard Los Al was not as good as last year, and I keep hearing this LH team is better than last year. Well after watching the game, I feel Los Al is not as good as last year and LH is not better than last year. LH has key injuries, but no excuses, they were not a disciplined team at all last night. Los Al deserved to win.

  • no excuses says:

    whoknows,
idk what game you were watching last night but Los Al’s defense last night physcially dominated and is way better than last year and their offensive line manhandled the front seven of LH. Los Al is here to play!

  • whoknows says:

I was comparing to the match up last year, and I do believe Los All was better last year, still a great team no doubt, #4 is outstanding. Just my opinion, peace.

  • whatshisname says:

no excuses . come on , good los al team yes but manhandled lh front seven no. pain old missed tackles by secondary sealed the deal. enjoy victory but dont gloat by blowing things out of porportion. like coach barnes siad[he is an expert at it] is a good team that could compete in sunset. that says alot. so yeah you guys are better than last year based on defense and now its hard to pick whos who in sunset and no doubt cif winner of pac 5 will come out of sunset. I just hope your game with edison is on a thurs so I can be there to enjoy a great football game.

  • La Habra will be back next week at home. After having three of their four opening games away and 2 of the 4 on Thursday nights, you could see the wear and tear even on the LH’s fans. Speaking of fans, what is with the Los Al fans empting out before the game was over. There was only 1/3 of the stands full with 3 minutes to go. Is winning a game that ho hum for them. Great defense on Los Al’s part. Question…. Is it better to have played three tough games and take the bruises into the big game or have a light schedule and be fresh? I still think if you are the small enrollment school (LH), you have to play the tough pre-season schedule in order to compete in the play-offs this winter.

  • UHwarrior says:

I’ll be the first to admit that I predicted an LH upset. Yes, that’s right an upset. LH beating powerhouse LosAl would have been a major upset. Los Al was bigger, faster, stronger. LH hung in there with great athleticism and speed. I’ve said it before that there’s a reason that Los Al is no. 4 in the county. They are a very good team. The sunset league this year is the toughest and Los Al’s schedule doesn’t get any easier. La Habra, although a strong, established program with four CIF Division championships under their belt is by no means the toughest team on Los Als schedule. Los Al still has to suit-up against Narbonne, no. 10 Newport Harbor, no. 1 Edison, no. 7 Fountain Valley, and rival Espranza. Los Al’s schedule is the toughest in the OC and they have a long, hard pull to get to the top.

There is no shame losing to powerhouse Los Al in the “bigger” division. La Habra should schedule other PAC- teams besides the teams in the OC top ten. La Habra is a great program with great athletes and coaches, they prove it year after year. But the PAC-5 definitely plays on a different level. LH has to recover quick and just let this one go, because they are going to have to come up big next week with San Clemente coming to town. San Clemente is another good PAC-5 team. If LH beats them on their home field it will stil be an upset.

  • salsa jones says:

LH needs to go back to fundamentals…DISCIPLINE. The OL looked tired…64 couldn’t get up fast enough- Los Al defense was running over 64 & 73..they gave up 6 QB sacks. They seemed lost..what was going on. I believe we could have played a smarter game, we lacked discipline – came out on 3rd quarter with no confidence and hunger.
Los Al came unto the field lit up and with a team goal. You can not hate on a team that has a good game.

LH keep your head in the game do not worry about who is watching you and remember just because you get a verbal from a University dose not mean you do not give it your all…verbals mean nothing right now…stay in the game with your team mates..or you might end up like Hillman…

    • Lhhman says:

QB Sacks – yup – coach tipped off passes – move Josh to slot and had nobody back. So Los Al did a great job of blitz and of course being a little bigger got in. Coach should not have telegraphed the passes like this…… And OL – I think Josh Elkington was not playing? Not sure I saw him and he is the anchor to the line – but Los Al was bigger this year than last.
I was hoping that LH would use Brett Bartolone like Hillman and do the reverse a number of times – not just once.

      • Dooglemom says:

Forget the reverse, how about throwing him a pass. He was third in receiving yards last week in the county and yet he was only thrown one screen pass the whole night!

  • whatshisname says:

come on jones what is with this chip on the shoulder of you and lhhman. the boys have been real good this year and nobody was predicting a sweep of 2 pac 5 schools. just a split will do. and didnt you read what barnes siad. that were a real good team that could compete in sunset. why are you constantly ripping in to domlatley?

    • whoknows says:

whatshisname – read your posts leading up to last night’s game, you were certain LH was going to win, now your changing it to nobody was prediciting a sweep. What are your thoughts on how the LH team played? Who cares what Barnes says, that was NOT La Habra championship football. Maybe the reality of the loss will help you to stop bashing other teams like the Friars and their QB too.

      • whatshisname says:

thats right I did and I am as shocked as any other REAL!! clan fan. and I siad earlier that a split will do, still one to go. and as a fan I am ashamed to read some of you who last year had nothing but praise for coaches and team, ripping them apart. maybe 7 didnt get much because of los al coaching staff.

  • stu pidasso says:

Secondary , Special teams ,Reciecvers looked lost out there !!!!!!! They were outplayed , undisciplined and Outcoached , Southwest foes will look at this game film and see the weakness @ D-Secondary , Hope Coach’s make some adjustments THREEPEAT is not going to come easy!!!!!!

  • hs fan#2 says:

Were the secondary not maiking there open field tackles or what? there secondary is too young!

  • The secondary is young, but will be very experienced when they get to the Southwest playoffs this winter. Don’t under estimate the coaching staff at LH. This was a very good “Division I” team they lost to last night.

    • UHwarrior says:

I agree with Friday- The secondary is young, but if you watched the first three games they played well and came up with some teeth shattering hits. They’ll only get better if they stay healthy.

Last night a good Los Al team forced the LH secondary to come up with some big plays. Los Al was just bigger, faster, stronger. To be honest with you, as good as Los Al is, I beleive they’ll be in over their heads against a very talented Edison Team, Edison is pass happy and LH exposed Los Al’s secondary as being susceptible to a good passing game, which Edison has and used it to upset Servite.

LH ‘s receivers dropped about 4 big play passes that could have swung the momentum, but it is what it is. If everyone can stay realitively healthy LH will do just fine in league and go deep in the playoffs. However, has anyone else noticed how good the rest of the Southwest Div is playing? This definitely a step up from the Southeast Div. for LH. My god, Tustin looks unbeatable, (or should I say Wilkerson looks upstoppable). It looks like El Do, Villa Park, and Trabuco Hills, are better this year than last. LH will have it’s work cut-out if they want to repeat as CIF champs.

      • stu pidasso says:

Los al was able to get to the the corners early, quick passes to wide outs several times especially on the second series when #2 went all the way and that overpowering stiff arm to #20, he out ran #27 like he was standing still. Once they exposed the edge of the field it was all over, the secondary will continue to be their Achilles Heal in the playoffs, you watch to see if S.C. exposes them early and often their Q.B. is highly regarded passer I would expect much the same next week….. I am almost sure of it…… I was also surprised that there was not of adjustments made at Half-time…What about LH #7 very few plays with him specifically? Don’t get it??? Stop Q and let the D-line pin their ears back!!!!!

  • UHwarrior says:

Stu- I didn’t get it either, it seemed that LosAl really took the wind out of La Habra early. I kept thinking (hoping), that if La Habra can keep it close at half-time they have a chance. And they did it was only 14-6 with LH ending the half with some momentum. LH is usually a better second half team with the coaching staff making adjustments. I guess the Los Al Defense was just too good, nothing seemed to work. Besides, the LH receivers had dropped some big play passes.

I agree with you SC will try to expose the secondary their passing game is good. What Los Al did to LH on defense, LH could not do to them, that is shut down the corners, and force everything inside. Los Al has some stud corners and forced LH to go inside. The problem with that was Los Al had stud linebackers as well to close the door on the inside.

LH did well in stopping the inside traps and dives that Los Al ran, but they could not shut down the corners. Los Al no. 4 Richardson was too fast, once he was able to turn the corner, it was so long baby, good bye. Peace.

  • stu pidasso says:

That’s because the secondary was slow to react the run, they were protecting the run after catch to the wide outs, once Los Al established they could out run the secondary LH DB’s had to give a coushan which exposed the outside run to #4.It will happen again and again…. until they figure out they are’nt playing as a unit….

  • hs fan#2 says:

SO IM GUESSING THERE MISSING #3? HUH

  • UHwarrior says:

Stu- I think you hit the nail right on the head. Unless, the LH secondary makes some adjustments and grows up fast, they are going to have the same problem with SC. They might have trouble with Fullerton and Troy as well, they seem to be playing very good ball lately. I think the Freeway league is going to be alot more competitive than I thought.
