
Edison senior Matt McElroy not only showed he is that class of the Sunset League, but in the process, put his name atop the record books.

McElroy cruised to a new course record, winning the Sunset League preview meet Wednesday afternoon at Central Park in Huntington Beach.
McElroy set a new course record with a time of 14:42, 19 seconds better than the previous record, set last year at the 2008 Central Park Invitational by former Mission Viejo standout James Cameron (15:01).
Esperanza’s Elliot Myers (15:27) and Marina’s Jason VanHamersveld (15:45) rounded out the top three.
Marina, with three runners in the top five overall finishers, placed first in the team competition.
