Calhoun’s Games to Watch: Newport Harbor vs. Dana Hills

Taking a look at the top games on this week’s football schedule:
No. 10 Newport Harbor (3-0) vs. No. 15 Dana Hills (2-1)
Friday, 7 p.m., at Dana Hills High
Outlook: Is this the game that Newport Harbor coach Jeff Brinkley gets his 200th career victory? Brinkley enters the game with 199 career victories, one shy from joining the county’s 200 club, which includes John Barnes, Mike Marrujo, Bob Johnson, Terry Henigan and Bruce Rollinson. It is an impressive group.
The Sailors, who were picked to finish fourth in the Sunset League, could be one of the most balanced teams in the county. They’ve only allowed nine points a game, running back Cedric Whitaker has burst on the county scene with 333 rushing yards in three games, quarterback Austin Rios has completed 64.6 percent of his passes and they might have the best kicker in the county in Dillan Freiberg.
What more do you want?
Then there are the Dolphins, who own two very good victories, over Santa Margarita (2-2) and El Toro (3-1). They also gave new No. 1 Edison all it could handle before the Chargers took over and won.
Chris Kearney has gained 311 total yards, and the running back duo of Brandon Howe and Cole Altuzarra has combined to rush for 328 yards. The quarterback combo of Trent Mason and Josh Dean has yet to throw an interception.
Newport Harbor won last year’s meeting, 25-24.
The Sailors just moved into the county’s top 10. Will the Dolphins have what it takes to grab their spot?

Well we will get a good read on how good this Newport Harbor team is and personally i think they are in the top 3 teams in the division, and ranked 10th is a slap in their face look for them to really get after it and blow Dana Hills out proving they are one of the teams Edision,Servite and a couple others will have to deal with if they want to make a run for the ring.
You know Newport must be good when they don’t mention the “only” high school All American in the County. The only people who seem to know who Whiteside is the major college scouts and recruiters.
Yo funnypost believe this ALOT of people will know who Newport Harbor is come playoff time barring injuries this club is the real deal led by a true all-american but the talent doesnt stop there they are one very good football team with loads of talent on both sides of the ball!
Hahahahahahhah funny how you all thought newport was gunna win and they got killed, Dana is a new winning machine, newport couldnt even score until end of 3rd qrt. I be embarrsed if i was you
