Outlook: Here are two teams that apparently have figured things out after rough starts.
El Dorado started the season with a 13-13 tie against Pacifica. They have responded with victories over Fullerton (27-21) and Valencia (28-15) to move up to No. 4 in the latest CIF-SS Southwest Division rankings.
Brock Dunn has played a key role in the two victories. He rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns against Fullerton and 140 yards and two more touchdowns against Valencia.
Quarterback Andreas Ambuehl has completed 20 of 31 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns.
Can the Golden Hawks pull the upset against a Pac-5 team?
Tesoro opened the season with consecutive losses to Mission Hills and Fountain Valley. However, they have responded with a 45-14 victory over El Modena and 34-21 over South Hills.
It appears that new quarterback Brett Mason has settled into his new role. He has completed 23 of 35 passes for 448 yards and four touchdowns in the previous two games.
Trevor Weis has rushed for 187 yards, and Kyle Woolbright has 21 receptions for 354 yards and three touchdowns.
