After a busy weekend of water polo and another huge week ahead, I’m back with another edition of the Albano Top 25 Index.
This week, the final five spots in the Top 25 were very competitive and tough to pick. There are a lot of ways to evaluate these teams, but I tried to look at a team’s entire body of work so far.
The county Top 10 was released earlier Monday as it is most weeks.

how did irvine move down the rankings without even looseing????there overall wins and losses are 9-0-2 that should be 12 baby
Why is Newport ahead of ET? They both beat MD and lost to Loyola on Sat. ET beat MD way more convicingly than Newport did. Right now, ET seems stronger than Newport.
Albano’s rankings are base on the fact that Newport lost to Loyola by less goals than El Toro.
cuz maybe irvine hasnt played a good team yet
Irvine is where they should be for the moment.
With the big tournament being played at Woollett in a couple of weeks, the Irvine Vaqueros will play some of the best teams in Southern and Northern California.
“NICE” says Irvine hasn’t played a good team yet … Hmmm … if I was El Modena, Santa Monica, Buchanan, Long Beach Milikan, and Woodbridge … I wouldn’t like “NICE” too much.
Foothill losing to Capo tonight should drop them down … and if Northwood loses to Woodbridge; another top 15 team should fall.
Hey Reply, ET lost to Loyola by ONE fewer goal than did Newport Harbor. Albano said on an earlier post on another blog that he continued to rank NH ahead of El Toro because both lost to Loyola and NH was already ranked ahead of ET.
Irvine is going to be great next year and maybe this year. They are putting up crazy-gaudy offensive statistics. But, “nice” is right… I think they’ve played against only one team in the top 25 (a loss to El Mo). The S&R tournament will either be a confidence boost or a learning experience for this young but talented team.
Here are the DII CIF rankings 09/28/2009, which was downloaded from the CIF website. It appears that the Trinity and South Coast Leagues are well represented again in the CIF top 10+ rankings with 4 teams each. Should they both have 4 teams in the top 10+?
DIVISION 2
1. Mater Dei
2. JSerra
3. Long Beach Wilson
4. Villa Park
5. San Clemente
6. Servite
7. El Modena
8. Santiago (C)

10. Dana Hills
Others: Santa Margarita, Capo Vly,
Tesoro
Bob R are you serious – Loyola showed class and pulled back on el Toro well into the 2nd half. Trust me, if they went all out the little bulls would have been taco meat.
D-1 Are you serious! did you see both games? Loyola never held back on ET The game was within 2 pts until the end. Now against NP Loyola didnt even play past 1/2 tank the entire 4th period. I think you got the games backwards. It is obviouse you were not at both. If you would like a video of both games i can get you one.
Why is ET #2 because they have not beat NP. and since they will not play until CIF the rankings probably will not change.
It is time to move Foothill down the list. Granted, they have played a tough schedule, historically they have been a great team, they have a great player and coach, but they cannot continue to stay in the top 15 when they drop one to Capo Valley.
Wow Reality – Did you forget your meds calm down. I know what I saw and I heard what I heard. Loyola was using elToro as a toy, merely playing with its prey, allowing everyone on the team a chance to gain some experience. ET is no match for such a strong, consistent team such as Loyola. Keep your video and improve from it.
good teams means 1-10 not top 25
