Football: How Fryer voted in the O.C. top 10

football_blog7Actually, this was an easy week for the rankings … although I wrestled internally with the choice for the No. 10 positio.

Here is how I voted for the top 10:

1. Servite: A lot of teams with 17-, 18-year-old kids might take it too easy in the second half, which Servite might have done last week vs. Crespi.

2. Mission Viejo: Another impressive, dominating victory vs. Corona.

3. Edison: Chargers have a very, very good shot at beating Servite this week.

4. Orange Lutheran: Having seen OLu’s improvement from that first game to the Tustin game, it is right there with Servite.

5. San Clemente: QB Chase Rettig made his debut and had a great game.

6. Mater Dei: They got it figured out, now.

7. Los Alamitos: Not too impressed by those two 0-3 teams the Griffins beat.

8. Fountain Valley: Yep, this is the best Barons team in years.

9. La Habra: Very much looking forward to the Highlanders’ upcoming games against Los Al and San Clemente.

10. Newport Harbor: I think Harbor would beat Tustin, even if Wilkerson played.

Very close: Tustin (still liking their chances to return to the Southwest final).

As always, I enjoy the comments and questions.

Fryer, Something’s fishy. It’s quite possible your computor has come down with a virus. You may want to consider a Mac. After reviewing the
Pac-5 ranking’s, I’m convinced your pc based virus flip flopped Mater Dei
and (my alma mater, absolutely no bias) Newport Harbor. Or could it be
that the Pac -5 voting is left to some iresponsible group of first graders
    with a grudge.

How did Newport Harbor not make number 10 when the majority of your voters picked them 10 over Tustin? You reward Tustin for losing? That is ridiculous.

  • Mattie5 says:

There are only FOUR ways Servite gets beat this year.
    1) They play at a lower level than they are capable
    2) They play with reserves due to injury
    3) They don’t show up for two halfs in a row
    4) Kunau and OLU are successful with another onside kick and then never lose momentum – how many times can they do this? Introducing THE AMAZING SUPER KUNAU!!

And that’s why you play the game. Suit up Big Dogs. You’re going to have to earn this one.
