Northwood High scored a touchdown in the second quarter here at Tustin High and is leading Beckman, 7-0, at halftime in a nonleague game.

The Timberwolves move ahead when quarterback Kyle Beane connected with Tony Fullman on an 8-yard TD pass with 8:59 left in the second quarter.

Fullman is having quite a game. He’s hauled in six catches for 93 yards. Beane has also been effective, completing 8 of 13 for 103 yards.

So far, Beckman hasn’t been able to get much going. Keith Lawson has been held to 43 yards on seven carries.

Coach Fred Shambaugh said last week that Beckman (2-0) will need an effective running game to be successful.

So far, Northwood has contained the Patriots.

The game will have a bearing on who wins the Dennis Toohey Fence Post Trophy.
