Taking a look at the best games of Week 2:
No. 1 Servite (2-0) vs. Crespi of Encino (2-0)
Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Cerritos College
Outlook: Our weekly look at the Friars’ nonleague schedule continues. So far, Servite has recorded two commanding victories, 30-7 over Long Beach Poly and 47-13 against Clovis West.
Next up, are the Celts.
Crespi, ranked fourth in the Pac-5, enters this week with consecutive victories over Lancaster, who was 1-9 last season and Birmingham of Van Nuys. It is a good start for a team that went winless in the Serra League last season and failed to qualify for the Pac-5 playoffs.
Crespi quarterback Bryan Bennett has committed to Oregon. He has completed 28 of 48 passes for 360 yards and six touchdowns in two games.
Servite quarterback Cody Fajardo passed for three touchdowns and ran for another, and the defense forced four turnovers against Clovis West. Fajardo was 16 of 21 for 162 yards.
Coach Troy Thomas summed up Fajardo by saying “We knew he was special since his sophomore year.”
Will Fajardo lead the Friars to another big nonleague victory? Did we make too much of Servite’s nonleague schedule?

You didn’t make too much of Servite’s preseason schedule, on paper it was horrendous. It just appears that they are up to the task.
Servite is a great team! That Fajardo kid has a rifle of an arm. As for their pre-season schedule it has not lived up to the hype so far. LB Poly has mainly sophomores a few juniors and a3 freshmen playing on varsity. Not a typical Poly team, every team has to rebuild at a point. Clovis West did not live up to the hype, they could not even move the ball. But Crespi will be their first tough game and Servite will be ready should post a Win. Edison is one of those teams that is always hyped and probably ranked too high. Servite true challenge is NOT MD it’s OLU. Not much is being said about them, and Im positive coach K is just fine with that. Servite should get a CIF championship this year. But not because of their “gruelling pre-season schedule”, but rather the Trinity league is one of the toughest in the nation. Sit back and enjoy the Friars this year!
Looking good Friars, Cody Fajardo makin’ your LH fans proud!
Servite Won!
