Think about it: 600 victories at one school. That's a big number but El Toro boys water polo coach Don Stoll is going for it today when his Chargers take on visiting Riverside Poly at 4 p.m.
Stoll also teaches math at El Toro, so here's a few numbers to consider:
He is entering his 29th season as head coach at El Toro but in his previous 28 seasons, his Chargers have averaged about 21 wins per season. That's impressive consistency.
Being one of the county's top programs, El Toro probably plays on average 28-30 matches per season, depending on how the postseason goes.
My estimate is that Stoll probably has won about 75 percent of his matches, which is even more impressive considering the high-level competition his teams face each season. El Toro also has captured six CIF titles under Stoll.
So if the coach gets No. 600 today, be sure to tip your cap to the guy - where ever you are. He's paid his dues and then some.
