Football: How Albano voted in the county Top 10

football_blog4Mater Dei’s football team rallied last week to edge a good Cypress squad, and the Monarchs also hang on in my top-10 ballot for this week’s county’s poll.

For that final spot in my rankings, the Monarchs beat out Trabuco Hills and Dana Hills. Both South County schools have big games this week – as do the Monarchs – so it will be interesting to see the county landscape in another week.

Mater Dei takes on Centennial Corona.

Trabuco plays San Clemente.

Dana meets Edison.

Here’s how I voted in this week’s Top 10:

1. Servite
2. Edison
3. Mission Viejo
4. Los Al
5. Fountain Valley

6. Orange Lutheran
7. La Habra
8. Tustin
9. San Clemente
10. Mater Dei

I gave the Barons a well-deserved boost past Orange Lutheran. The Lancers’ loss in Ohio isn’t looking so bad. That Pickerington Central team is 3-0.

I also blasted the Tillers into the No. 8. I have not previously ranked the Tillers in the county top-10 but they have impressed me. Sure, Wilkerson ran wild again last week vs. Foothill but the Tillers’ defense made some strides.

Esperanza is on my radar but the Aztecs need to show me more than one game. The Santiago team that blew out Esperanza lost its next game.
