O.C. FOOTBALL TOP 25
1. Servite
(7-4 overall, 4-1 and tie for first place in Trinity League in 2008)
The Friars have six All-Trinity League returnees, and a quarterback, Cody Fajardo, who looks ready for a big year. Chris Nicholls is one of the fastest receivers in the county. The line should be solid, although standout tackle Matt Jakubiec likely will miss some nonleague games because of a dislocated knee cap. The chief area of concern will be running back, where there is a shortage of returnees. Servite is playing the most challenging nonleague schedule imaginable. Will that prove to be overambitious when league games come around?

biggest and best o-lineman out with dislocated knee cap? questionable running backs, and a mediocre qb, and a bruttle sched . sounds like number 1 to me.
Sunset preview 2009 ?
Servite?? they will not beat Mater Dei this year either….it has been 20 years!!
I really want Servite to finally beat Mater Dei this year and end the streak, but I doubt Servite will beat MD since it has been 20 years. I still can’t believe Servite lost in 2006 by missing that field goal, that just shows you how much MD owns Servite.
Starting out number 1, but where will they finish?
Boy do people get jealous fast! It’s just a number. Give Servite a chance to make it their season.
It’s a wonder when the other rankings came out no one had nothing to really say about the other teams.
If it’s their year more power to them.
i love you Cody Fajardo<3
your ready to show people what your made of!
your ready for a big season this year!
play your heart out STUD!!
your #1
SERVITE!!!!!!
It does not make sense on how Servite is able to beat Orange Lutheran, Mater Dei loses to Orange Lutheran, and Mater Dei still beats Servite, this has happend 3 years in a row now, Servite should have ended the streak at least in one of these 3 past seasons, especially 2006. Also last year, Servite beat Edison, Mater Dei lost to Edison, but Mater Dei still beat Servite. In 2006, which was Servite’s best chance to finally end the streak and the best Servite team in a quarter-century, but they fell short at the end, Servite beat Santa Margarita that year, Mater Dei lost to Santa Margarita, but Mater Dei still beat Servite, 2006 was Santa Margarita’s best team this decade. Anyhow, I’m just stating the fact that Servite still loses to MD eventhough Servite has beaten teams which MD has lost to. Do you think the Servite players every year get intimidated or very nervous when playing Mater Dei? Do they like have a nervous breakdown and thats why they lose?
What? La Habra is not in first place?
Just kidding. Servite will have their hands full with Polly. If they win then they deserve first place.
I think that is bull that Servite is number one
The only reason they are their is because Steve Fryer is a big Servite fan
Why do you think Servite is unable to beat MD?
you know whats really funny here? not only does friar use his influence to dub these duds as num1 , he also has coach thomas ranked ahead of rollinson and john barnes as coach of the decade. in the short time at servite what in the world has he done to be even mentioned in the same breath with 2 such icons of oc football
thats a dumb question. first off its the best in the decade not all time. what had rollinson done in the past 10 years… nothing. has he won CIF? no. Big whoo, he has won league a few times. other than that he cant do much in the playoffs. Barnes on the other had has been good but his team hasnt been as great as past years. and to answer your dumb question about what thomas has done, here it is. When thomas came to servite, the year before the team went 2-8. he comes in, wins league, beats the powerhouses, loyola (who won CIF) and LB Poly, then went to the semi Finals. then in 2006, and 2007, again won league and went to the semi-finals, then last year, he won league again… 4 years in a row winning league in the trinity league, i dont know, sounds like a pretty good coach to me. its only a matter of time before he wins CIF
you siad it all . is only time before he wins a cif title. my point exactly he hasnt and cant beat rollinson.
it seems like I am the only Servite fan here who is tired and frustrated of Servite losing to MD every year, don’t any other fans and supporters want the streak to come to an end?
Andrew:
People are just jealous! Every year there is so much pressure on the Servite Football team to beat MD. I have been to the last 3 Football games against MD. Servite can beat MD and they will this year. I believe they are a stronger and more experienced team. They have most of their starters back. Cody has been throwing for Servite for 4 years. He is ready! It’s just such a big hype when is comes to this particular game that the team has alot of pressure on them to beat MD. If they go out there an just play, they will win!
I also believe there is a lot of pressure on Mater Dei as well, because I assume every year Mater Dei does not want to become the first team to lose, MD people tell me that Coach Rollinson hates Servite with a passion, well I don’t blame him. Why do you think Servite lost to MD the past 3 years despite beating Orange Lutheran, which beat Mater Dei? Like why do you think Servite still loses to MD eventhough Servite has beaten teams which MD lost to?
Forget about MD.
Poly vs Servite in a battle royal.
Thats good football!
Andrew,
Rolly may hate Servite with a PASSION…….but this year he better respect them. The FRIARS pre-season makes for the most difficult one around. Everyone at Servite wants to end the streak but the only game that matters is being in the finals at the PAC 5 Game. My bet is they will be there and MD will be home watching so who really cares……………..
Go FRIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey BIGWOMPOM a little respect please!!!!!!!
Andrew:
All do respect, I think you looking into the Servite VS. MD issues too much. It comes down to experience, talent and Intergity. Servite has all these qualities this year. Who cares who wins a long as it is a good game. The coaches at Servite just want the boys to play 100% to their ability. Again, they have the experience and most of their starters are back this year. They are ready for pre-season. I agree with Ray, The FRIARS have the most difficult pre-seaon than anyone elso. MD playing Cypress High?….Last year, I went to that game and literally felt sorry for Cypress, they got beat around 53 to 7.MD should play some real teams during pre-season. That was a real EGO BOOSTER!!!!!!! They are a good team-do they really need an extra “BOOST”?
Well 20 years without a win over their arch-rival? that is humilating, I feel sorry for Servite, I want Servite to finally end Mater Dei’s inexplicable dominance over them. I know that it seems like I am looking into the MD vs. Servite issue too much, but you have to admit. I will never forget the 2006 game at Angel Stadium when Servite missed those 2 field goals.
Go Servite!!!! I don’t care about the MD game. Let them beat Poly first then we will worry about everyone else!
if the monarchs are as inexpeirienced as theyre saying , why not play some safe tune ups to get their legs going. on the other hand ,I still see servite as overated. they lose top lineman for 2 weeks , no expeirienced running backs, lost a solid lb to fullerton, and have a mediocre qb, so by the time they play mater dei, not only will they be beat up, but the same old syce will be in their heads and coach rollinsons boys will prevail again.
As much as I want Servite to finally beat MD and end the 20-year streak, for some reason I doubt it will happen, MD has beaten Servite so many times that now it is expected that Servite will lose. The 2006 game at Angel Stadium that went into overtime after Kevin Goessling missed that field goal and then Ahmed Mokhtar scored on the finaly play, on 4th down, made me forever lose hope that Servite will ever beat MD. C’mon, Kevin Goessling was one of the best HS Kickers in the Nation at the time, and he missed? If Servite does end up beating MD and breaking the streak, I doubt it will happen anytime soon, maybe after Rollo retires at MD. The 2009 Servite team will not be as good as the 2006 team.
Well,
Servite’s JV Team beat Long Beach Poly 33-20, yesterday afternoon. It that a start of what our league results will be. I know some of their JV players on both sides stepped down for this game. Way to go Servite!
They are ready for pre-season!
Again, Bigwompom you think playing mediocre teams really is good for MD. Come on, who are you kidding! Just keep thinking that. Cypress HIgh against MD? Why not just have them practice by themselves. MD is a good team-so proove it!
credo lives the typicall double standard. you critisize d6 teams for not stepping up and playing the big boys and when they do you put down the pac 5 team for scheduling a lesser team, is that called having your cake and eating it too.Im just saying if theyre retooling like the experts say what better way to get your legs going .plus what some of you dont seem to realize is that these are contracted games bound and sealed for at least 2 yrs ,so you have to play it , you cant change every year, just like san clemente now wishes they never signed up to play la habra.
The 2005 Servite team beat Long Beach Poly in the Playoffs by the score 28-20, but they lost to MD that year by the score 35-17, Matt Barkley’s freshman year at MD, Coach Troy Thomas’s first year at Servite, they tied for League but MD flicked aside the Friars that year, Servite is still able to beat a very good time but they still lose to MD, it has to be an evil spell or curse as for the reason why Servite always loses to MD, similiar to the former Boston Red Sox curse and long-time and current Chicago Cubs curse.
My bad, spelling error, I mean Servite is still able to beat a good team, but they still lose to MD.
Servite isn’t a double standard football team. They play hard and work hard. To be a good team you have to play hard. Every team has a choice every season who they want to play pre-season. We played St. Paul for so many years and this year both teams decided to move on.
So all do respect bigwompon, MD has choices too. I told you that MD will always be a good team, but now it’s time for another to take the big ring! Hey, didn’t you call Servite a mediocre team in one of your past remarks? So who is a good team in your eyes? Yum, I wonder?
Andrew keep a postive spirit about Servite. When season starts we will know who will come out on top. I have a good feeling this year!
Maybe your so call curse will be broken……..
credo I didnt say servite lives a double standard I siad you do. and no you cant pick and choose what team you want to play season by season unless you want to pull out of a deal which doesent look good. and who do I think is good, well I would have to go with edison 1st then mission and for the sake of controversy mater dei over servite just because of the curse and rollinson over thomas. and you guys are mediocre. farjardos stats werent impressive, you have no established runningbacks and now the big boys injured. but thats ok because after you finish 3-7 youll still be in top 10. and one other good team out there, that will never be mediocre la ahbra
LA HABRA CANT EVEN BE ON THE SAME FIELD AS SERVITE 2 DIV 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS, HA COME PLAY WITH THE BIG BOYS IN THE PAC 5 THEN YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO COMMENT. YES SERVITE PICKS AN CHOOSES WHO THEY PLAY ONLY THE HARDEST PRESEASON IN THE LAST DECADE.OPENING AGAINST #1 RATED LB POLY OH BY THE WAY DID YOU READ THE PAPER TODAY LB POLY GOT SMOKED I HARDLY CALL THAT MEDIOCRE.
It is just very weird that Servite beats teams which MD has lost to, but MD still beats Servite. You know what I am talking about, MD loses to OLU, Servite beats OLU, but MD still beats Servite.
Andrews please get over the the Servite VS. MD saga. Wait to see what happens later. I hope for your sake they win this year and they will. It’s kind of getting old. Move on………
Wooooo!! Servite dominated long beach poly!! Looks like its gana be the year servite finally beats MD!!!
why cant we all just get along!!!!!!!
You all are making it sound like I want Servite to keep losing to MD, that is so not true!!!!!!!!!, I hope and pray every year that Servite can finally end the streak. But don’t forget, Servite also beat Long Beach Poly in the playoffs in 2005, which was Coach Troy Thomas’s first year at Servite, and they tied for the former Serra League championship that year with MD, but MD beat Servite that year 35-17, which was Matt Barkley’s freshman year. The 2005 game between Servite and Long Beach Poly was a close game, Servite only won by 1 touchdown, this year Servite killed Poly. Well right now at the moment I feel more Optimistic that this can finally be the year the streak comes to an. end
Wow most of you sound like old time Raider Fans. I was good yesterday but suck today. Servite is the bomb this year. size speed and overall talent. They smoked a good Poly team. MD is old news losing 14-2 to Carson. Huh? Servite will beat MD by 3 TDs and end the 20 year jinx. Join the band wagon and ride it to State Finals Servite is the real deal
I hope you are right Bradymeister, I hope the Spell is broken this year.
