5. Mater Dei
(8-4 overall, 4-1 in the Trinity League in 2008)
Yes, the Monarchs have to replace Matt Barkley. Is this the first time Mater Dei has had to replace a big-time quarterback? Nope. The Monarchs churn out winners at every position year after year, so they will be fine. They have some very good ones returning – Victor Blackwell at receiver, and Chris Ward on the offensive line. This will be an interesting team to watch.

Too high!! Mater Dei is not a team this year like they have been in the past. They lost Barkley yes but thy also lost Maldonado, Hytche, and most of their o line. People put to much stock in Ward to be the whole oline. You need 5 good lineman to make a good Oline and the Monarchs have one. Tesoro should be in top 5 based..

Mater Dei is better than a #5 team.

Mater Dei is definiately better than number 5. But not surprised we are also underrated….we are good every year regardless of who we lost.
Mater Dei will beat Servite again for the 21′st time this year.
Eventhough I am tired of Mater Dei always beating Servite, I really want Servite beat Mater Dei and end the streak, but 20 years without a win? That is humiliating, especially the 2006 game when Servite missed that field goal.
Last comment, why do you think Mater Dei always beats Servite? Servite has had great teams in recent years, especially in 2002 and 2006, also Servite has beaten teams which MD has lost to, for example, 3 years in a row Orange Lutheran, Santa Margarita in 2006, and 2008 Edison.
