23. Western
(9-3 overall, 5-0 and 1st place in Orange League in 2008)

Pioneers senior running back/linebacker Ruben Ortega is one of the county’s top returning players. He was league player of the year in ’08 for the second season in a row. If he stays healthy, he will be All-County. Ortega battled a variety of injuries last season. Other returnees include all-league second-teamers Dominic Orman at defensive back, and linebackers Pete Foo Chong and Theo Okai.

One can add that by tradition Western has a very balanced team.

Keep an eye on former Western Pioneer Fili Moala. This year He was drafted by the Colts and is making a good bid to become a starter on their defensive line
