boys_soccer_iconFULLERTON - Finally. After eight games and more than 490 minutes, someone was finally able to break through Fullerton's defense and score a goal in the Sunny Hills Summer League.

Servite actually managed to score two goals in Wednesday's pool play game. But in a span of three minutes in the second half, the Indians knocked in a pair of their own, and the two teams would eventually play to a 2-2 tie.

For most of the first half, Servite controlled the final third of the field. Garrett Bradbury dribbled past a couple of defenders and took a point-blank shot which was knocked away by Dionney Reyes, who has been in goal for all eight of the Indians' shutouts.

A few minutes later, he fired the ball past Reyes, giving Servite a 1-0 lead, which Charlie Miller turned into a two-goal advantage when he picked up a loose ball in the box and scored.

"I have no idea why people couldn't score on them (Fullerton). We went into the game confident that we were going to score plenty of goals," Servite coach Mike Lussier said. "Our attack going forward is very balanced ... very fast. We can get up the field fast on teams. And we are very organized. When all our top players were on the field, it was a pretty one-sided affair."

It didn't take long for the Indians to strike back, however. In the opening minutes of the second half, a Fullerton free kick, taken fromĀ  close to the middle of the field, caught a strong tailwind, sailed over the goalies head and bounced off the left post. Fullerton's Hector Lopez kicked the rebound. Three minutes later, Luis Ramirez's header even the score, 2-2, after it glanced off a Servite defender

The fullerton Boys were missing some of there starters. Although they were playing with about 5 bench and the rest starters. Servite had plenty to go , with at least 8 bench. That's pretty sad that they can't beat a second division team bench team.

  • Already an Excuse says:

Servite should have easily won. There goals were also far superior but hey, goals are goals. There is no need for excuses. People are always missing and others are always hurt. It isn't about what could have been, but about what was.
I just hope these two teams get to play again.
