
IRVINE - Tesoro's Andrew Akers and Marina's Ashley Greer both had to survive a playoff on Tuesday at Oak Creek Golf Club to win the inaugural Orange County High School Championships.
Akers along with Dan Martin (Tesoro) and Kyle Miranda (El Dorado) both carded a 1-over 71 to tie for first. Miranda was eliminated in the first playoff hole, and then Akers defeated Martin, his Titans teammate, when he finished with a par on the second playoff hole.
Both players received a tropy and a a "59 Belt", which has produced custom designs for some of the biggest names in the PGA and LPGA including Sergio Garcia, Lorena Ochoa, Mike Weir, Suzanne Pettersen, Adam Scott, Anthony Kim, SeRi Pak, Annika Sorenstam and Padraig Harrington.
