FULLERTON - In less than a minute a tie turned into a loss for Servite

Jacob Chavers scored back-to-back goals after sprinting into the box past the Friars defenders to lead Chino Hills to a 3-2 victory against the Friars on Wednesday during the opening match of the Sunny Hills boys soccer Summer League.

"We are not concerned about wins and losses. The biggest thing is to identify the mistakes that me made and work on them," Servite coach Mike Lussier said. "Summer league gives us a chance to look at some players ... everyone plays no matter how good or bad they are. And it gives us a chance to see what we need to work on."

The Friars, Lussier said, were missing seven of their regulars, including Nick Echeverry who is currently in Colombia practing with a professional team, the Juniors.  He's not expected to return for a two more weeks.

Rafi Balikcioglu

The Frairs did have one returner in the lineup who made quite an impact on Wednesday - Rafi Balikciolglu. He seemed to be able to run at will past the Chino Hills defenders and had several good looks at the goal in the first half.

One of his shots missed the right side of the goal by a few inches, but he evetually slipped on in underneath the crossbar and tied the score at 1-1 for the Friars. Chino Hills scored a minute earlier off a PK after the Friars were called for a foul in the box.
