OC Varsity ~ High school sports talk by the staff of the Orange County Register

Air Strike: Montana definitely Pac-10 worthy

June 13th, 2009, 7:14 pm · 3 Comments · posted by DAN ALBANO, ocvarsity.com

football_iconOaks Christian quarterback and recent Washington commit Nick Montana impressed me with his accuracy and mobility at Air Strike Tournament on Saturday at Dana Hills.

Sure, he has things to work on like all high school quarterbacks but the 6-foot-3, 191-pounder is certainly a Pac-10-level recruit. He has a strong-enough arm but not a Matt Barkley-like cannon.

His No. 1 strength at this point might be throwing on the run.

And as his Coach Bill Redell noted with a smile, his father - NFL legend Joe Montana - was pretty good at that, too.

Just ask the Dallas Cowboys.

He has a strange throwing motion.

His throwing motion didn't strike me as strange. I watched the LosAl-OC game and thought he threw better as the game went on.
