Sonora schedule (2008 record) Power rating
    Scrim vs. Woodbridge 1-9 -7.3
    9/10 vs. HH Wilson, 7pm 1-9 -12.5
    9/17 @ Brea Olinda, 7pm 1-9 -7.3
    9/25 vs. Loara, 7pm 5-5 2
    10/2 vs.Rancho Alamitos,7pm 1-9 -21.1
    10/9 @ Walnut, 7pm 5-5 6.2

Note: Sonora needs to upgrade their pre-season schedule inorder to compete and get used to top caliber football. There is no way SOHS will ever beat LH or Fullerton.

  • glass half full says:

looks like 2 definate losses before league starts. so a3-7 record is in the cards for the so called best running game.

  • OC FB Fan says:

Sonora's first game, HH Wilson has a new coach from Temple City. They may be a surprise.
I agree with FWY Fan, that Sonora needs to upgrade their pre-season schedule in order to compete with likes of Fullerton or LH and maybe even a good SH and Troy team. Until then, they will only play 10 games a year. Too bad for the Raider faithful.

  • BAnderson says:

Sonora is still trying to build back that program. Which starts with winning some games. When you go 6-4, 7-3 for a few seasons get the program rolling and maybe stop losing so many kids to La Habra, then Sonora will be able to upgrade the OOC schedule. Sonora will get there soon they have a good young coaching staff that is trying hard to build a good program

    • Paul says:

Sonora needs to keep the kids that live in the Sonora area. Until they can do that they will always be the second team in La Habra.

      • Numbers Don't Lie says:

Not too sure it's the kids..... The numbers the new coaching staff has put up aren't any better than the previous staff. In the past three seasons ('06, '07, '08) they went 3-7, 5-5, 3-7, The two seasons before that,('04, '05) SOHS old staff was 5-5 and 3-7. See a pattern?

New staff offense has averaged 18.1PPG(over 3 seasons). The old staff averaged 20.3PPG(two seasons). The new staff defense has allowed 30.2PPG, the old staff allowed 27.5PPG. The numbers don't lie. Something has to give over at Sonora.

        • Michael says:

The talent level is starting to rise at Sonora with many kids dedicated to the weightroom and speed training. Time will tell, but I'll give Coach Chiotti 3 more years before I start complaining. His previous 3 classes were pretty much non-existent on talent. (Honestly, no offense to those guys) Him and his staff are truly dedicated to winning and I see that just observing and listening to the kids. No reason to knock that...they are probably trying to emulate La Habra as best they can.

  • Sonora Seniors says:

This season Seniors were freshman when Chiotti arrived. It has been 4 years, more than plenty of time to turn things around. Let's see what happens. Good lock coach.

  • Freeway Fan says:

Yea it's gonna be this year where the program makes a turn around and with the class of 2011 coming with a lot of all stars there probaly gonna be the best Sonora ever had

  • Turn Around says:

INHO,,,In order for Sonora to claim a turn around year,,,they need to complete the following: Roll HH Wilson, Beat Brea, Hang in there Win or Lose to Loara, Roll Rancho, Go into league 3-2 with losses to Loara and Walnut.
In league,,,,return favor to SH after last years' spanking (42-21). Beat Troy and BP. Then lose to LH and Fullerton, going 6-4 and earning a spot in the playoffs. That will gain them some respect.

  • oc' best says:

some what agree. fullerton maybe on a down turn regardless of their past, and could be losing a little bit of swagger.could sunny hills be the runner up this season,we will see.

  • Warrior says:

Sonora will not beat Troy plain and simple. We lost like 2 guys of any significance last year, so don't under estimate us. We have so many returners who have the experience of last year, and are determined to become the Troy we were with the exception of last season

    • Crank it Up says:

Agreed Warrior. Sonora has not beat Troy in at least five years. This year won't be any different? They had a chance last year, but now that Troy has upward momentum behind them there's no way. BTW, this should be Fullertons last decent season That should open up a spot for Sonora next year.

  • oc' best says:

personally fullertons last decent season might have been last year, they got to finals in 07 and couldnt beat league rival, and after returning some experienced players in 08 got whipped by la habra and ousted in 2nd round of playoffs. this next senior class was whipped by la habra as freshman and probably cant shake off last 3 yrs.and any underclassman that are filling the ranks arent as good as what troy can bring up.

  • hitters says:

thats why they play the game, all this stuff look great on paper but they still need to play the game!

  • Warrior says:

Crank it Up i appreciate a level mind person to blog with, along with oc' best, thank you for being realistic

  • glass half full says:

i dont think troy will beat sonora

  • Yort says:

You're right Troy won't beat Sonora. They'll destroy them and make them wish they were playing in a different league.

  • foosball fan says:

dont know about destroying them...remember troy barely beat sonora on a last second pass play...i say it still ends up in a tie...a big pillow fight!between these to teams...lol

  • oc best says:

hey scumora . how is all your practices going . id love to see your walk throughs, but then again all I have to do is wait till you play clan this year, and I wont even need a tape to see slow mo.by the way which side of field do you want after game since your at home.

    • Free Fan says:

a while back i remeber u were saying u were an OLu fan but u sound like a la habra dad

      • oc best says:

like the famous stones song goes, pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name, but whats fussing you is the nature of my game.

August 16, 2009 at 11:25 amfirst off !!! Sonora didnt they make a new League rule because you guys got beat so bad against La Habra last year! How embarrassing is that...I dont think this rule exists in any other leauge, and you guys only had 65 total yards on offense against LH AND GOT BEAT 62-0.....WOW!!! Now if any teams in the freeway league are winning by more than 40 points it’s a running clock! That really sucks for the second and third stringers that means they will never get to see the field...I wonder what rules they are going to make to cater to Sonora’s incapable ways of winning this year! Maybe they will start the games by giving them a 50 point lead cuz that’s the only way they stand a chance against LH ..... Sonora has went through over 10 coaching staffs in the last 20 years it looks like they finally have a great group of coaches willing to stick it out and try to change the the program! but the fact is it will never happen unless you have get the KIDS! Sorry Sonora it is going to be another long season!! Again NOTHING BUT THE FACTS!!!

    • Warrior says:

Lets be honest: Sonora is not a freeway league powerhouse. That's fine because neither is Troy anymore, and Fullerton is a disgrace to the sport with all their thugs so lets not mention them. I think we can stop bagging on Sonora. I play at Troy and i can't wait for the game. All of this worthless banter will be finished on the field, and that's where it belongs. Let's just prepare for a great season of freeway league football and lets go WARRIORS
