Lance Eddy announced he is stepping down as co-head coach of Canyon on Wednesday after 26 years with the program.
Eddy will continue to be the tournament coordinator for the prestigious Faster to First Classic and Michelle Carew Classic tournaments. Eddy has done an incredible job running these tournaments over the years. He always puts on a class operation and makes the tournament brackets as fair as possible.
Eddy will remain an advisor to Canyon's softall team and will continue his work with various facility improvements.
Eddy guided the Comanches to seven league championship, 23 playoff appearances and a career record of 497-247-6. Canyon has always been a top-10 team in the county with Eddy at the helm.
Dan Hay has been the co-head coach at Canyon the past three years, and he will continue the Canyon tradition.
He told me a funny story when we talked earlier today. He said the Canyon softball field was named after him in 1996.
"I was wondering what they were trying to tell me," Eddy said. "Aren't you supposed to be dead or retired for them to name a field after you."
They were just telling you how much they appreciated your hard work, dedication and love for Canyon softball. Now get to work on improving that golf game now that you are going to have all this free time on your hands.
