San Clemente has hired Jeff Colton, a successful club coach at SET, as its girls water polo coach, Tritons athletic director Jon Hamro announced Wednesday.
Colton replaces Don Laster, who helped re-establish the Tritons as one of the top teams in the county. San Clemente has won two consecutive South Coast League titles and reached its first CIF semifinal last season.
Here's what Hamro said in a press release about Colton:
“We are thrilled to be getting such a high-level coach who has earned the respect of the entire Water Polo Community. The success of his teams in the water speak for themselves; however, he is also keenly aware of how important it is as a high school coach to help develop our athletes into well rounded, successful human beings who will make a positive impact on our society down the road."
Good hire especially with no teaching jobs currently available. San Clemente has a good future with a very young team this past season. This move could push them up a bit to be one of the top OC programs
Good hire. SC had a very young team last year and has a good future. This move should make them competitive with OC's best programs.
