Ok, this is getting crazy now. Laguna Beach senior Annika Dries scored a goal in her second consecutive match to help the U.S. women’s water polo team defeat China, 9-5, in the FINA World League Super Final in Russia.
That’s right – the 17-year-old, high-school senior Dries is really playing well for Team USA. Considering how dominate she was this past season for the Breakers, I wonder how the high school aquatics scene should remember her. How about this question -

If you ask the question based on what they did while in high school, I think you have to give it to Anni. She still has another week before graduating and the way she’s contributing right now to Team USA at the World League Super Final is amazing.
What about Gabby Domanic…. she made her National Team Debut while in High school too… ALBANO you are losing your edge… I am disappointed……
Didn’t Marina’s Beauregard compete for all but her junior year with and against boys? She was the county’ first girls polo star, and the sport didn’t even have any girls teams until her junior year (I believe). She starred for the boys teams (and starred in the Sunset League) for two seasons, gave the girls team a shot for her third, but returned to the tougher boys competition for her senior season. It’s tough to compare her, since none of the other girls here competed against boys.
Sorry to disappoint you BAF – Dominic was a standout in high school and did get the early call to the national team but I don’t think her resume makes her a candidate for best of all-time.
Of Foothill’s Big 3 – Hayes and Emily Feher county players of the year, and I went with Hayes for the poll
