Fan voting finalized for O.C.'s top athletes

We entered the finals of fan voting for the OCVarsity athletes of the year with two deserving boys candidates and two deserving girls candidates.
We're going to exit the voting with two fans winners from the boys and two from the girls.
One reason is that we clearly had some voting irregularities over the final two days, so much so that the voting no longer seemed all that valid. We were going with an honor system, but there clearly was stuffing of the online ballot boxes happening.
The other reason is that we simply have four outstanding finalists who deserve recognition from the fans, so why not recognize all of them?
Therefore, your choices for the OCVarsity athletes of the year are (in alphabetical order):
Robert Refsnyder, Laguna Hills football and baseball
Cindy Tran, Edison swimming
Cecil Whiteside, Newport Harbor football and track and field
Mary-Rachel Walsh, St. Margaret's tennis, soccer and lacrosse
All four will be invited to attend our annual dinner to honor Orange County's athletes of the year in each sport.
The dinner also is where we will announce the Register's choices as the county's overall and small schools athletes of the year. The Register's picks could be the same as the fans' and the OCADA or drastically different (please note, we won't finalize the selections until after the upcoming weekend of championships).
Thanks to all who passionately supported their favorites, even if the passion occasionally was a little over the top.

I wanted to personally say thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for me, I truly appreciate it. I'm honored to even be nominated and get through the first rounds, so making it this far is impressive. Thank you. And congratulations to the other athletes: Mary-Rachel Walsh, Robert Refsnyder, Cecil Whiteside. I wish the best of luck to the graduating seniors. Take Care.

Lets not confuse "Ballot Stuffing" with a community that always rallies to support one another. Obviously some of us did vote more than once. None the less lets celebrate both of these young ladies efforts, character and accomplishments. Lets not make this a uncomfortable situation for any of us or these young ladies! Way to go girls! We support you both!
Congratulations to everyone! Honestly, putting a student from a school of 400 against another from a school over 5 times that size in a poll was unfair anyway. I'm glad to see Mary, Cindy, and both boys athletes get the recognition they deserve.
