The CIF-SS Division I semifinals are nearly underway here from Mater Dei, as the Monarchs host the defending Division I champion Mustangs.

The winner advances to the CIF-SS Division I title game  Saturday at Cypress College.

The Monarchs enter the contest on the heels of convincing victories over Aliso Niguel, Corona del Mar, and Santa Barbara.

The Mustangs, ranked No. 2 in the nation by ESPN Rise, have also been impressive during the postseason, sweeping Buena and Huntington Beach,  before knocking off Esperanza in four games in the quarterfinals.

Both teams looked focused and ready to go in what should be a pretty competitive match.
