Randall Nygren, La Habra football, basketball and baseball, vs. Robert Refsnyder, Laguna Hills football and baseball. Click here to vote.
Good Luck Morgan
Go Get em Morgan
If it’s the best athlete in OC than Middlebrooks and Whiteside are clearly the top 2. Middlebrooks being one of the fastest kids AND being a top running back in the State and Whiteside is a All American in 2 sports and All Cif in a third.
Nygren would be honorable mention for his elite play in multiple sports.
Morgan would take either of them down and wrap them into a pretzle
He is by far the best athlete Hands down
And Whiteside would pound him in football, dunk on him in basketball, hit a bomb in baseball and throw any object farther and beat him in a race.
But he can turn him into a 225 pound pretzel.
morgan is so athletic he makes athletic people look not athletic
Huh? You have not seen Whiteside? Maybe the smaller man could win in his “specialized event”. But any other sport he would surley get clobbered. It’s the best “athlete” not the best in his sport.
Keep the votes coming in Chapel, you will win this easily because you care, if Newport did it would be a slaughter.
Being the fastest does not make you the best athlete. I have no doubt that Morgan would be great at whatever sport he tried. He chose wrestling, which is a year-round sport, unlike those other sports you have metioned. A week after winning high school state as a sophomore, Morgan was at another state championsip event in freestyle. The week after that he was competing at Junior Regionals in Las Vegas in both Greco Roman and Freestyle against some of the nation’s best. He won all of the events I have listed.
I’m am in no way discrediting Whiteside, I’m sure he is a great athlete. However, you can not be so quick to judge a kid without seeing him compete. I’ve been around wrestling for a long time and have not witnessed someone as talented as Morgan, in any sport. To say that he would get “clobbered” in any other sport is highly unlikely. Morgan stands at 5’11 and is 185 pounds, and is a beast. I believe that he would be able to hold is own against any high schooler in any sport.
wrestling is ” a year round sport”, unlike others?? since when?? every top level athlete works all year, so that makes Cecil Whiteside who is national caliber in 2 sports isthe BETTER ATHLETE- It’s the best athlete! not the best wrestler.
You say Morgan is 5’11″ 185 lbs so he could hold his own. Whiteside is 6’3″ 228 lbs, runs faster, is as strong if not stronger. I give the wrestler his due, he is national caliber in ONE sport. Whiteside is national cabliber in TWO sports.
IMO – YOU “PLAY” FOOTBALL (IT’S A GAME). YOU DON’T PLAY WRESTLING (IT’S REAL-IT’S ANCIENT-IT’S ROOTS ARE LIFE OR DEATH). TO SAY THE TOP COMPETITOR IS NOT AS “ATHLETIC” AS A BALL PLAYER IS AN ADMISSION THAT YOU KNOW ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING ABOUT THE SPORT.
MOST WRESTLERS NEED TO HAVE ALL THE TOOLS OF OTHER SPORTS PLAYERS (I.E. – FOOT SPEED, STRENGTH, ENDURANCE, FLEXIBILITY AND MORE THAN ALL, MENTAL TOUGHNESS). MOREOVER, THEY COMPETE WHILE ON STRICT DIETS. THE ONLY SKILL NOT REQUIRED IS HAND TO EYE COORDINATION WHICH IS A SKILL MOST GREAT BALL PLAYERS AQUIRE.
MORGAN IS UNDEFEATED THIS SEASON (A SOPHOMORE) AND IS ARGUABLY THE BEST IN THE NATION AND PLANS TO COMPETE AT THE WORLD LEVEL THIS SUMMER.
I HAVE NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR ALL THE NOMINATED ATHLETES. I AM SURE THEY ARE ALL GREAT IN THEIR OWN LIGHT, BUT UNTIL ONE IS READY TO PROVE THEY ARE THE “BEST” IN THE STATE, COUNTRY (MORGAN ALREADY HAS), AND WORLD, THEN THE BEST OC ATHLETE IS MORGAN MCINTOSH.
how many of these athletes are training at the olympic training center this year? and as a sophomore? only morgan mcintosh is at that level in highschool sports.
GO MORGAN!!!
The entire wrestling community invites Cecil & anyone else that feels that wrestling isn’t an athletic sport to come in for a week of Calvary Chapel Wrestling Practice, & I will put that up against Morgan in a helmet & pads on, Morgan will undoubtedly adapt to any sport that requires you to hit, run, or lift. He may not be as competitive at Tennis or Synchronized swimming, but Pound for Pound Morgan was the toughest wrestler in the State of California, if that’s not an athlete I do not know what is. How does Cecil rank in the state at the sports in which he participates in, if he is anything but the #1 guy in anyone of the sports that he competes in, it is no comparison to what Morgan a baby sophmore has accomplished. He is the only Sophmore to receive the Dave Shultz Award in California as a sophmore, & that is the MVP of the Wrestling State Championship Tournament, & California is a pretty big state so you do the Math. When you see the workout that wrestlers go through, especially Calvary Wrestlers now this isn’t a just a coach yelling at you, this is coach that is beating on you, taking you down, in your face screaming bleeding, then beating you up again & again & again, 5 times a week 3 hours a day, there is no comparison to an elite athlete in wrestling, & an elite athlete in any other sport. The 2 toughest sports in high school I would say Wrestling & Water Polo, but Football, Basketball, & Baseball are nothing more than spectator sports not necessarily tough sports.
There is no one to hide behind in wrestling like basketball, baseball, or football, unlike those sports wrestling is a individual sport that requires you to use every muscle in your body 100% of the time, a wrestling tournament consists of 8 matches that are 6 minute periods, & there is no where to run or hide!
Again we invite you all in to wrestle just for 1 week, & I can promise you they will not make it a week, put Morgan in Pads & I don’t see an issue.
All I can say is I competed in both football and wrestling in my youth. Decided to go with football in college. My sons now wrestle they do noy play football. You can take Morgan and put him on the field for spring ball, and training camp, by the end of it he would earn a starting position some place on the team…Bring in a football player that never wrestled, he would get smashed over and over again. If he has heart he will keep coming back for his beating, if not he will quit.
Wrestling is harder and tougher then footbal, and I am i die hard football fan and former player. Morgan if had to defend himself in the streets would do it way better then any football player that only knew football.
Morgan is the best…..not to mention one heck of a young man…
