Boys volleyball: Division II Round 2 outlook

May 19th, 2009, 10:09 am · · posted by

boys_volleyball_iconIt’s on to Round 2 of the boys volleyball playoffs.

A breakdown of what’s happening:

Division II

Teams remaining: 16

County teams remaining: 5 (No. 1 Laguna Beach; Saddleback; El Modena; Calvary Chapel; Costa Mesa)

Matches: Top half: Laguna Beach-Righetti; Saddleback-Agoura; Valencia/V-El Modena; San Luis Obispo-Royal; Claremont-Brentwood; Bottom half: Claremont-Brentwood; Thousand Oaks-Calvary Chapel; Arroyo Grande-Costa Mesa; Valley Christian-Westlake

Outlook: The Breakers are the overwhelming favorite to reach the championship match from the top half and they remain on track for that. Their biggest obstacle to that appears to be Valencia/V in the semifinals, unless El Modena can bust a huge upset. Calvary and Costa Mesa have winnable matches, though it looks like the Eagles may have the better shot of advancing.

I’m not sure where you get your info., but saying that if El Modena beats Valencia tonight would be a huge upset is a dumb comment!
They both have a common opponent in Dana Hills and Valencia just lost to them 2 weeks ago! I’d say both these teams are pretty even with ELMO on a major roll right now. Please check your stats before info. goes to print! By the way, Connor Olbright is a much better all-around player than your”Pre-Season Player of The Year” Nick West from El Dorado!! Too one-dimensional!!

      Thanks for checking in.
How many weeks did El Mo spend ranked in the Division II poll? How many weeks did Valencia/V spend ranked in the Division II poll?
If you know the answer to that, then it could be considered a huge upset if El Mo wins.
One interpretation or way of looking at it.
      Thanks
