Raider Nation where are you, you whined your way into a shortlived ranking! Nobody cheers for the raiders up in Yorba Linda, Thats more of a USCneighborhood. You gotwhat u wanted: Temecula and Norco, have fun!!!!!!
In the future you report on your own players unless you really know the facts and you don’t. I think pauly Strong would have no-hit you again!!

  • raidernation says:

are u mad? I mean seriously dont be so upset that esperanza completely destroyed your team last week. I didnt whine my way into anything. The esperanza players turned their season around and thats all their is to it. We ended the season on a winning streak you ended the season getting destroyed. Dont worry as long as strong pitches the first game of the playoffs you have a chance. Hes a little suspect right now after no innings in almost 2 weeks tho. GL to Marina

As for temecula and norco. First esperanza is happy they arent playing on tuesday. They worked their way into a friday game and it was expected they would get the toughest route. Here is a tip for you big boy. In order to win it all you have to beat the best. Whether that comes early in playoffs or late it doesnt matter. Maybe if you had ever won a cif championship you would know this but since you are from marina I understand where you are coming from . hahahah

    GL sunset teams

  • parmenter says:

Dont forget Marina CIF title with Barton and the boys a few tears back!!

  • ocbaseball says:

marina’s and esperanza both great ball clubs and what about Jserra going into that trinity league and taking the crown! big uos to them

and also pacifica breaking the top 10 this week, ive seen them play and they got weapons on that team. strong club

  • know it all says:

How could any of the five voters that are paying attention cast a Top 5 vote for any team other than El Toro, JSerra, Edison, Mater Dei, Capo, Marina, Tesoro, Foothill and possibly even Esperanza???

    That’s just like… crazy dude!!!

  • know it all says:

Anyone heard if Kurrasch will be available for JSerra?

    • LionTamer says:

Not likely – he hasn’t thrown in 2-3 weeks – has he? If he is they can make a deep run. If not then they will have to rely on some young guns to step up. The prospects of staffs that are nicked up this time of year aren’t good.

Capo will roll in the bottom half of the draw!

  • STEVE FRYER, ocvarsity.com says:

My vote has just been posted here on the blog-a-rama. I have one of five votes. Points are awarded, with 10 points for a No. 1 vote, 9 points for a No. 2, etc down to 1 point for a No. 10 vote.

  • .............. says:

Valencia is a power house i have watched them play. they will make a run deep into the playoffs with the kind of hitting they have

  • BBallfan says:

I think your right Yorba Linda is more of a USC town!! and the Raiders!! not sure who roots for them anymore! I do however agree that Esperanza is a way better team now then when Mr. Strong No-Hit them!! by the way i was at that game and he did look fantastic but we were still in that game till the end. I do like to give credit where credit is due, and Paul Strong is very good. Im not sure why everyone thinks it will be Temecula Valley against Norco! Esperanza has won 10 out of 12 and their bats have been on fire! with the exception the Edison game and another outstanding Pitcher Kurt Heyer!! who shut them out, the other loss was to Mater dei in the final inning at the National Classic semi-final game. Marina needs to just worry about their bracket cause you wont face Esperanza again unless they both make the Finals!!! By the way Congratulations to Esperanza for making the top 10! in the final polls, great job guys!!!

  • OC Observer says:

    The Cougar Den:

Lakewood finished 3rd in the Moore league. So Edison is getting what they earned.
Lakewood – Edison will be one of the best 1st round games Friday.

  • observer says:

COUGAR DEN has conveniently forgotten that it was capo valley that got KNOCKED OUT of the playoffs in the second round last year……………… and ………..guess who knocked them out……………. that’s right……………. MATER DEI!!!!! Mater Dei also beat Capo Valley the last two years in tournament play. That makes Capo Valley 0-3 in the last three match ups. Now everyone can get a better picture of why Cougar Den is such a Mater Dei hater. Enough with the crying and conspiracy theories. Let the games begin!

    • know it all says:

I see Esperanza knocking out the strikeout prone Temecula Valley team them losing to Norco in Round 2 8-3.

      Other OC round 2 match-ups…
      Mater Dei over Tesoro 8-2
      Edison over West Ranch 7-0
Simi Valley over Dana Hills 9-4
      Capo over O Lu 5-3
      Marina over Valencia/V 5-1
      JSerra over Chaparral 11-10

    • The Cougar Den says:

Mater Dei may have the Cougars number…but they can’t even win the games that count the most…like say, oh I don’t know….the Trinity League games. They have nothing on Capo Valley when it comes to League (too many to count) and CIF Championships (5 – The most of any baseball program in OC). Until the Monarchs Baseball program steps out of the humongous shadow cast down by their Football & Basketball programs and wins championships (and I’m not talking about Elks Tournament Championships or National Classic Tournament Championships), they will never be better than Capo Valley.

And if someday, Coach Burt Call does turn Mater Dei Baseball into a perennial championship program, just remember that he may wear the scarlet and silver, but he will always bleed BLACK & GOLD.

Would love to see you in the Finals, but since your boys blew it and came in 2nd in the Trinity League, they get Norco in the quarterfinals…..and once again, denied that oh so elusive CIF Championship.

  • parmenter says:

Thats good poop know it all!

  • ralph mouth says:

    i think its trash!!

  • bbfreak says:

Let’s just let the players play baseball – all this talk about whose team is better, what player is better, are you all adults????? Joke! Some of these blogs are downright rude! Saying that one school owns a player, etc, ….. now that’s class.

  • bbfreak says:

Good luck to ALL TEAMS who are competing in CIF Playoffs!

  • marinerfan says:

i agree just let all th teams play it out all i can say is im glad our baseball team is very good again as we r projected by fryer to make it to the final four lets beat crespi on tues

  • jim trentin says:

SUNSET LEAGUE WON BIG TODAY, AS FOR YOU MR PERMETER MARINA WILL GO TO ALL THE WAY IF THEY HAD MARK WARD, MARK WARD IS A GREAT MOTIVATOR

  • The Real Tom says:

    I made a mistake

  • High School Fan says:

I find it amazing that everyone has overlooked Edgar Zamora from Beckman with his stats:
    .388 Batting Average
    2 HR
    33 RBI’s
    2.27 ERA
    61 K’s
    and 10 W’s
Guess they will not overlook him at Anaheim Stadium in the State Championships!

  • titan4ever says:

if beckman played division1 they would be a non factor! sorry but true

  • oc baseball says:

Mater Dei’s overall record of 21-5. included going 5-0 in Elks Tourney and defeating Capo Valley in championship, 4-0 in National Classic and defeating El Toro in Championship, 10-5 in Trinity League and defeating every team in the Trinity League (including J Serra and OLutheran) 2 out of 3 games and defeating all league teams on the road. MD beat many top teams (including current 29-1 Notre Dame of AZ in National Classic who was the last team to beat Norco) and defeated 7 different League Champions this year: El Toro, Capo Valley, Valencia (Valencia), Canyon (2 times), J Serra (2 times), Northview and Patriot along with beating 3 other CIF qualifiers Foothill, Esperanza, and OLutheran (2 times) plus winning Elks and National Classic-no CIF D 1 team played a tougher schedule then MDHS. It should be a great CIF Tourney.

  • know it all says:

Good stuff Cougar Den but Lakewood is a 3rd place team and posted a 5 game losing streak in the last 2 weeks of April. The Moore is generally a quality league but this year it is very sub par. Great draw for a 5 seed. Max Preps also has both of Mater Dei’s potential opponents, Saugus and Oxnard ranked ahead of Lakewood.

The potential Capo vs. Marina q-final with Matzek and Strong should be a beauty. The winner of that game should get to the finals against Norco.

JSerra has clearly the easiest road to the semi’s with Millikan as the only other league champ in their draw. I see JSerra in the semi’s, the problem is Capo will likely be back on Chamber’s for that game which could be a problem if Capo gets past Marina.

The top of the bracket is much stronger with Norco, Simi, Edison, Mater Dei and Tesoro. The bottom has just JSerra, Capo and Marina. Valencia/V, Millikan and Royal and badly overrated.

Luck of the draw is equally important as having best talent.

    Good luck

    Cougar:
You should know by now Fryer is in love with
    MD.

  • The Cougar Den says:

    Hey Real Tom,

The universe certainly SHOULDN’T revolve around Mater Dei. But while guys like you, Fryer, and the rest of the Mater Dei Honks out there propping them up into something bigger than they really are, the rest of us (Capo Valley, El Toro, J. Serra, Edison) win our league championships outright.

At the end of the day, Mater Dei is just a 2nd place team. They will likely go down in the 2nd or 3rd round of the CIF playoffs like they always do. Mater Dei did not earn the right to play a wild card team (who will more than likely have to go with their #2 pitcher against the Monarchs) in the first round.

Edison did earn the right……and even though they face a #3 seed in Lakewood, they will likely face Lakewood’s #1 starter. Proving my point that seemingly Mater Dei got preferential treatment over Edison even though the Chargers are seeded higher than MD and were champions of the Sunset League. No propaganda here Tommy Boy…just the facts.

  • The Cougar Den says:

That is why you just responded to me isn’t it, Tommy?

  • baseballfan says:
