The playoffs get under way Thursday.

A look at the Division II action:

Draw: 32 teams (click here for the draw)

County Teams: 3

Top four seeds: No. 1 Brentwood; No. 2 San Marino; No. 3 Palm Desert; No. 4 Beverly Hills

Other seeded county teams: No. 8 villa Park

Team playing with the most confidence: Brentwood. Overall No. 1 seed. That usually helps to instill whatever confidence was missing before.

Team with nothing to lose: El Dorado. Golden Hawks have the No. 6 seed Diamond Bar ahead in the second round.

Team most likely to surprise: Palm Desert. San Marino is going to get a strong challenge in the semifinals.

Outlook: Villa Park is the county’s hopeful to make a run. With No. 1 Brentwood awaiting in the quarterfinal, that’s probably the best the Spartans could hope for. This Division isn’t a county powerhouse. Brentwood will make the final in the top half. Palm Desert-San Marino will a tight match to see who they’ll face in the final.
