Six all-star games featuring many of the top basketball players in Orange County will be held Saturday at Mission Viejo High. (UPDATE: Read how the O.C. players did at the games.)
The Kiwanis/PlyoCity High School All-Star games are to include six players who were All-County first-team selections for the 2008-09 season, including girls player of the year Christina Marinacci from Foothill.
Some of the better non-seniors in the county also are on rosters.
The games begin at noon and will run throughout the day. Here is the schedule:
• Noon: senior girls (small schools);
• 1:30 p.m.: senior boys (small schools);
• 3 p.m.: elite underclassmen girls;
• 4:30 p.m.: senior girls (big schools);
• 6:30 p.m.: elite underclassmen boys (6:30 p.m.);
• 8 p.m.: senior boys (big schools)
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and children.

there were all those posts about which kids deserved to be there and all that.. with all the no-shows it made the arguments stand out more. Roster not being released until a week in advance? In years past the rosters were up 2-3 weeks early, that way if a kid was invited and couldn’t make it they could replace him. The underclassmen boys game only had 6 kids on each squad. Each Senior boys roster seemed to be missing 1-2 kids at least. I wonder if some really good players were sitting at home last night when they could have or should have been at the game in place of someone who couldn’t make it. I hope that next year they are a little more organized.
