Here three match-up to look out for today.
No.4 Edison at No. 6 Esperanza, 3:30 p.m.
The Chargers enter their second meeting of the season with the Aztecs winners of four of their first five league matches. In those four victories, Edison has lost only two games, including their four set win over Los Alamitos Tuesday, which saw Torey Darin and Dillon Auxier combine for 29 kills. Esperanza will be looking to avenge their only Sunset League defeat, as they fell in three games to Edison on March 31st. The Aztecs defeated Marina in three games Tuesday behind 26 combined kills from Chris Hartig and Chris Dreim.
Dana Hills at No. 5 San Clemente, 5:45 p.m.
For the second time this week, first place in the South Coast League will be at stake, as the Dolphins travel slightly down the coast to take on the Tritons. Dana Hills is coming off a four set win against Tesoro Wednesday, their fourth victory in five league matches. McKay Smith led the attack with 20 kills, but he had plenty of help, as James Drury and Alec Mackensen each chipped in with nine kills while Chris Kearney produced 49 assists. San Clemente used a balance attack to knock off Aliso Niguel in three games Wednesday, as four players had at least seven kills. The Tritons, who are 5-0 in the South Coast, have not dropped a game during their league winning streak, which started March 31st with a sweep of the Dolphins.
Orange at Saddleback, 3:30 p.m.
The Roadrunners are coming off a convincing sweep of Segerstrom in a game for sole possession of first place in the Golden West League. Brandon Tanielu and Jose Ortiz each had 11 kills for Saddleback. The Panthers have struggled throughout league this season, but could through a road block into the Roadrunners path toward a league title with a strong effort.
