Here’s a quick look at Thursday’s action from around the county.

In the Sunset League:

No. 1 Newport Harbor 3, No. 5 Edison 1: Cody Caldwell had 26 kills, while Hamilton Day added 11 to pace the top ranked Sailors (14-5, 4-0) over the host Chargers (12-9, 3-1) 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23. Torey Darin led Edison with 26 kills, while Dillon Auxier added 10.

Los Alamitos 3, Marina 1: The Griffins (12-13, 2-2) picked up their second straight league win over the Vikings (13-8, 1-3) 25-22, 19-25, 25-13, 25-11 at Los Alamitos High.

In the Pacific Coast League:

No. 2 Corona del Mar 3, Beckman 0: Dylan Davis had a team high 16 kills, while Weston Nielson added 15, as the host Sea Kings (15-5, 4-0) swept the Patriots (10-7, 1-2) for the second time this week 25-21, 25-20, 25-21.  Paul Goodman led Beckman with 20 kills, while Jordan Cheng had team high totals in assists (27) and  blocks (4).

In the Century League:

El Modena 3, Canyon 1: The visiting Vanguards (12-6, 4-0) knocked off the Comanches 25-19, 25-23, 25-22 behind 13 kills and 19 assists from Connor Olbright.

In the Garden Grove League:

Rancho Alamitos 3, La Quinta 1: John Nguyen recorded 20 kills for the second straight match to guide the Vaqueros (8-1, 4-0) past the Aztecs 25-15, 25-23, 7-25, 25-18 at La Quinta High.

Garden Grove 3, Santiago 1: The Argonauts rallied to defeat the Cavaliers 24-26, 25-16, 25-20, 25-11 at Santiago High.
