Here are the top five teams in this week’s O.C. Top 10, which is voted on by members of the county media.

edison was 3-1 in hawaii. they are now 13-2
i guess having 2 losses is better than having 1?

Marina lost to El Toro earlier in the season
Three words: STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
Steve Frier and the rest of the OC gang are and always have been Trinity League fans. Edison by far has the best team out there. I do not uderstand why Mater Dei is still top 5. As for Marina being 14-2 and not ahead of the rest is they lost to Edison, however they should be 2 or 3. Mater Dei does have very sound pitching, but have lost games they should have won. Edison lost 1 game in Hawaii because they played a few hours after landing. Aliso Niguel is 1-6 in league, how in the world would anyone consider Aliso top 5 other than a parent or coach.
coach, dont make excuses about why edison lost. marina could be ranked higher. they should be 16 and 0 if a couple of unfortunate plays did not happen. it would be perfect if edison and marina were switched. we will see how things turn out at the end of the year
Edison beat Marina…end of story.
Edison has played 2 teams in the top 15 ( if you include Los Al, who IS one of Fryer’s all time favorites and the only reason they are still at 14). Mater Dei has played 6 games against teams in the top 15, losing once to #7 and once to #13. It all goes back to STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE – not the wins/loss columns. Play a stronger schedule and win, then start talking about how Edison and Marina should be on top.
marinas losses should have been wins. they had both el toro and edison right at the edge but could not finish them off. lets see what happens when marina and edison meet later on.
marina will beat team right now and on. there on unstopable. every team is scared to play them
As I said before, MARINA LOST to El Toro, who by the way, destroyed El Dorado and the #5 team per ESPN (Palm Beach Central) in the United States ( I know, rankings suck) in the little known National Classic Tournament. Let’s see what happens tomorrow night against Mater Dei assuming Mater Dei beats Esperanza which is not so easy…..
OH, and TOPGUY, I think El Toro and Mater Dei are probably not so afraid of Marina….Geesh, beat a team before you talk smack…
bring it on guys talk is cheap at the end of the season when the teams head for CIF who will have the pitching. to get there is one thing to be able to survive you need pitching. Marina pitchers have all shown they can throw with the best of them and they have 5 pitchers should be their year
Funny to read all the postings. It is incredibly transparent that many have changed their name due to sheer embarrassment. Baseballforlife…being able to close a game successfully is just like anything in life….closing a deal, closing a job…baseball requires mental ability as well as physical…pressure takes a toll. Baseballguru…I’m not sure if Coach is making excuses. Edison played four hours after landing in Maui and start time was 10pm California time. Not a league game…live and learn. Makes me wonder…do you think you (as adults) could be up at 5am, travel for 16 hours and play a game. Awww…forget it…losing in Maui…better than losing in So Cal. Regardless of how the season ends…character, integrity and respect are fundamental in the Charger organization. I don’t think Marina holds those qualities in high regard based on what I read here.

I’m heading to the El Toro- Mater Dei matchup. Not the one I wanted! Mater Dei is a real solid team!
It is amazing that anyone thinks teams are afraid to play Marina. If the have quality club and good coaching you would wna to play anyone that could possibly considered the best which apperantly baseballguru (most likely a Marina parent) does. I know the players on most of these schoools, the dedication of the coach and players at Edison is as close the dedication of most college programs. Marina has somevery solid talent, however I do belive the lack the focus Edison has. Baseballguru said that Marina should be “16 and 0 if a couple of unfortunate plays did not happen.” With that kind of thinking every team should be undefeated because the only way soild teams win is capitalizing on the other teams mistakes. This sounds more like making excuses to me than Edison waking up at 4am to play a game in Hawaii the same day. Marina gets to play Edison again April 29 and May 1. These will be GREAT games.

I have to agree with baseballfan – Esperanza is a scrappy team with a lot of speed and smarts. Could have been anyone’s game last night.
Right again Coach – El Toro has incredible hitting and solid pitching and are very aggressive. They fear No One.
showtime – It will all come down to pitching tonight. Will Mater Dei pitching be able to shut down El Toro’s offense, which is unbelievable top to bottom? Anyone know who’s got the ball? Does El Toro have anyone left? Rumors are that Thompson may pitch? Find it hard to believe that they would risk further injury for a game that means very little in the long run. Good luck to both teams – should be a CLASSIC!
that is going to be the games of the year strong vs heller, marina vs edison, edison has heating and pitching, nobody can score on edison, with owens and heyer, and sneed hitting homers, thats a home run thats a home run, edison is tops
