Trailing 13-11 in the decisive fifth game, Cypress’ margin for error had vanished. Their moxie, however, was just arriving.
Out of a timeout, the Centurions ran off four points to clinch the match over Loara, 25-21, 18-25, 25-19, 19-25, 15-13, and take over sole possession of first place in the Empire League standings.
Cypress is 3-0. Loara is 3-1.
“I want to say it was one of those things where we were focusing on getter better every match,” Cypress coach Justin Muller said, “but we knew it was a big match. They were CIF finalist last year. We stepped up.”
