Last week’s No. 1 team, Mater Dei, lost. Should MD stay on top of the ballot?
Here is my vote, one of five votes in the Orange County medial poll …
1. Mater Dei
2. El Toro
3. Tesoro
4. Capistrano Valley
5. Edison
6. Santa Margarita
7. Marina
8. Orange Lutheran
9. Dana Hills
10. Cypress
Mater Dei lost to Santa Margarita, 4-2, and with MD’s No. 1 pitcher, Aaron Northcraft, on the mound (he gave up three solo home runs, two hit by Trayce Thompson).
MD did not get blown out by a mediocre team. Plus, there is no team that was on the precipice of deserving a No. 1 vote.
I gave a lot of thought to putting El Toro on top of the ballot, but stuck with Mater Dei. So did the other four voters — which means they are either smart to agree with me, or just as foolish as I am.
If you want to drop in a comment with your top 10, please do. I enjoy the readers’ opinions. We have some very sharp readers out there.
No matter what, it seems Dana Hills can never drop out of the top 10. Villa park beat Santa Mar. and D. Hills soundly and can’t even move up to at least ,11 or 12. When will you give a little respect to the century league, VP has played alot of your top ten teams. S.M. moved way up and Edison finally got some respect, so for now give some of that deserved love to the Century league teams!
Marina beat Santa margarita 6-3!!!!!
El Dorado has won 5 of their last 6, They are 7-3 overall and in league are 2-1 behind Villa Park and Canyon. They would be 3-0 in league had they not given up 7 runs in the 7th inning against Canyon. Prior to that inning they outplayed Canyon in every facet of the game. Amazing after all this they DROP from 15th to 20th!!!Can someone explain that logic?????
Parmenter I agree with you. Marina was better than SM that day and they are a deeper team. Strong didn’t even have his best stuff.
