Here are 5 matches to watch for this week:
Sage Hill at Laguna Beach, Tue, 3:15 pm
Call it the battle of the beaches bragging rights. The Lightning boast a solid win over Los Alamitos this year so far. This is the type of match that help determine those 11-20 rankings, and who knows, maybe one of these teams has what it takes to crack the top 10 at some point.
No. 2 Mater Dei at No. 6 Northwood, Tue, 3:15 pm
The Monarchs beat Dana Hills on Monday, 11-7, and now get the upset-minded Timberwolves. Like Woodbridge below, Northwood has a chance to shake up the county rankings. Give Mater Dei the edge in singles, but the Timberwolves doubles could pose some problems.
No. 5 Woodbridge at No. 3 Corona del Mar, Wed, 3:15 pm
The rankings say enough, don't they? Well, this is the Warriors chance to show the county the top three isn't just CdM, Mater Dei and University. Woodbridge has two top singles players, as do the Sea Kings. But as importantly, is how will the doubles play out. It could decide the match.
St. Margaret's at No. 9 Santa Margarita, Wed, 3:15 pm
This is a type of match where the Tartans can show their strength. The Eagles have a solid team with one of the best singles players in the county. We'll see how the Tartans stack up.
Valencia at El Dorado, Fri, 3:15 pm
A cross-town showdown for the city of Placentia. The Tigers have talented 1-2 singles punch and No. 1 doubles team that can cause havoc. The Golden Hawks are solid in singles and also carry a top No. 1 doubles team. Another match that helps determines the 11-20 rankings, and again, who knows, maybe one of these teams has what it takes to crack the top 10 at some point.

Hi Tim
We will be releasing a preview of the tournament later in the week (before Friday).
Thanks for your interest.
Chris
Chris,
I don't know why Santa Margarita's Ali Makmalchi keeps being referred to as one of the best in the county. There are quite a few players who are never mentioned that are ranked higher in outside rankings and are undefeated this season, yet are never mentioned.

Some other higher ranked players include Canyon's Denis Nguyen(top 10 in the nation for his age), Servite's Kevin Cox(senior committed to Dartmouth), Foothill's Johnathan Huang(top 50 in the nation for sophomores. I'd keep a lookout for those three. I don't know if any of them have lost a set so far this season.
