MD all hype, football, basketball now baseball !!
Capistrano Valley is 3 – 2 not 4 -1. Tesoro is hitting the cover off the ball….will it continue in league?
readytorumble: the baseball team is not all hype. The team that should be all hype is Capo Valley. All talk about the 2 top pitchers and mater dei put a 3 spot in the first inning off Chambers who by the way looked terrible. 83-87 mph. thats what mater dei’s 5th and 6th pitchers throw.
mater dei is the real thing this year and their talent and great chemistry as a team is going to take them a long way..
If the “hype” fits, MD Baseball will wear it!!! So far it’s looking real good on them!! Keep up the hard work Monarchs!
Aliso 4-1 #9 very nice……… looks like the SCL will be a dog fight once again with Capo, Tesoro and Dana
Wow, the Trinity League has all 5 OC teams in the top 17 in the county. This is the toughest league in the County, as much as I hate to say it, Mater Dei has proven they are the team to beat!
Guys, it’s a long season, and there are a lot of league games to be played. Let’s wait until the playoffs are over to crown champions.
By the way, I think South Coast is the top league so far this year. Trinity looks good. Sunset has been putting up numbers. It’s going to be a great year for OC baseball.
sunset will be amazing.
los al is all hype.
LOARA knocks off some powerhouses. GO SAXONS
dana hills will be dropping jaws this season with well a rounded defense, solid pitching, power and execution throughout the lineup definately not a team to underestimate
San Clemente #25 and El Toro #2 split in last nights match up.
SC has a young small team but they can be very tough. Watch out !!
loara.. ranked in top 10?
finally
Loara is the snizzle dizzle for izzle..
were going to destroy the empire league then
take over division II
Mater Dei University is always the hype early, but in the end they only have 1 CIF championship to talk about. It’s not a sprint Monarch fans, it’s a marathon. Just ask youre football and basketball teams this year. The season starts after Easter, so make sure you get all your prayers in on Palm Sunday.
Palm Sunday? The Monarch fans get they’re prayers answered “everyday”! Patience is a virtue, that’s why MD is taking the 2009 season “1 game at a time”, (and happen to be winning them)!! By the way, the “2″ CIF Championship banners at the “University” look awesome!!
I concur with CapoDynasty about Mater Dei. Their “Rah-Rah” antics before and after games have absolutely no place in the game of baseball. And at the end of the day, what have those antics gotten them? Nothing! You can go undefeated in the regular season for all I care. It is what you do in CIF that matters. And in 5 trips to the CIF Championship Game, Capo Valley is 5-0…and Mater Dei’s Head Coach Burt Call can vouch for that since he was the team captain on Capo Valley’s first CIF Championship team in 1983. MD baseball tries to link themselves to the dynasty that their basketball program (no this year though…HAHA!!!) and football program have EARNED over the years. However, in order to EARN the moniker of DYNASTY, you have to have won multiple CIF Championships. Steve Fryer giving you the highest ranking in the county after only 5 games does not make you a dynasty…but the rest of us know that your enormous “Sense of Entitlement” has once again, clouded your already incredibly skewed judgement. “Our Lady, Queen of Victory, humble us……if you can.”
Wow!! Somebody’s all charged up!! 1) I see no mention of MD Baseball and the word “Dynasty”, only the “Capo Dynasty” reference. 2) MD Baseball is well aware of Coach Calls roots w/ Capo Valley, duh, that’s what helps the drive towards a CIF title (like everybody else by the way). 3) I doubt Steve Fryer (a Servite fan), gave MD the highest ranking without doing his homework first. 4) Your quite familiar with the traditional MD “Our Lady Queen of Victory” term, hmmm (it’s almost as if your a disgruntled X Monarch or something. 5) You must’ve been at the Elks tournament Championship game that Capo lost, and the fan support “Antics” for MD is all you can say. Everybody wants their school to win, but not everybody has to get on a blog and rip apart other schools, their sports programs, and support systems! You must be one class act! (Capo parents and fans have always shown much more class over the years with MD, it’s a shame your representing them)
Thigms,
I like your style. Let us all not loose sight of the fact that the PLAYERS are the PLAYERS and the PARENTS are the PARENTS”. Know who you are and where you stand, and most of all your influences will be reflected through your kids, good or bad! Keep it going in the right direction and we can all have fun! Winning, losing, sitting or playing. Is it about your previous knowledge or your kid’s having fun and enjoying there high school years even if you didn’t!. It truly goes by in a flash! “PLAY BALL”
Great blog “Thigms”. I absolutely agree with you that Kenny Flipin is simply flipin out of touch with reality. MD has a great tradition which in my family dates back to the very first graduating class in 1955. They are competitive in all sports and they always show class in both winning and losing. They will prove again this year that they are worthy of the best baseball team in the O.C.
hey capo dynasty:
mater dei has 2 cif titles.. so thats where ur wrong number one. and when was the last time capo beat mater dei…
lets re cap..
capo hasnt beat mater dei in 3 or 4 years i think.. and ur right it is a marathon and i believe mater dei beat capo in the playoffs last year or the year before.. so keep ur comments to urself and the only thing going good for the team is the 2 pitchers. well i wouldnt say 2 cuz chambers is pretty awful. 83-87 thats what mater dei’s 5th pitcher throws.. capo is all hype and thats a fact.. Losing to mater dei and also corona santiago.. WOW i think thats says enough right there…
see u in the stands while mater dei is playing…
have a great night
E D I S O N……The first of three straight cif titles will be this year….
To set the record straight, San Clemente barely edged out El Toro in the second game of the double header 9-7. In the first game San Clement was shut out 12-0.
Dana Hills!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????? bbfan you must be swimming too much in the crappy water of Doheny State Beach. Tom Ferris is a great coach, but there is no chance the Dolphins will win the SCL. Zamora has won 7 straight league titles, and has his best team in years on the field in 09′, and by the way Tom Ferris was tutored by who? That’s right, Bob Zamora.
It’s Faris, like Paris with an F. And the point was not that Capo does not have a good team this year. The point is that Zamora is getting out coached by the coaches he mentored.
CapoDynasty, no worries, Zamora is a great coach. But “bbfan” wanted to make another point (through you). Clearly “bbfan” is the parent of one of the Mater Dei “great student- athletes sitting”, not playing, therefore, other players are faulted (not the 1st time that country has been heard from). If so knowledgeable of others academics, are there privacy boundries being broken? Good-grade players, poor- grade players, sounds like all of them have more smarts than some adults.
I think CV is good as ususal, but without Matzek they are very average. Once again, their hitting is their weak spot, plus the chemistry is not there this year as in the past. Figure every other game is a win with Matzek, but Z can’t pitch him every game in cif.
I did get specific earlier, but OCRegister edited/deleted my post.
Capo has a great team this year. And, they have good chemistry as a team. It is not the Matzek show. (For Gosh sakes that is ridiculous. Have you seen Chambers batting average? It is around .700) Furthermore, they have 3 kids slated to play at Division 1 colleges.
Tom Faris and Burt Call are excellent coaches and Zamora has been bested by them 0-7 their last matchups.
0-7 (0-5 vs. Mater Dei 0-2 vs. Dana Hills)
Zamora taught them all he knows and they use it to beat him.
Dana Has Spencer, Kuhn, Ehlow and Tago and a great coach. I think they will do well this year.
Memo to Thigms: Good call on the ex-Monarch call. Disgruntled though??? Hardly. I just think TRUE success is winning with the kids who actually live in your district as opposed to cherry-picking your talent. It is what it is… But with that said, it is incredible that Mater Dei has not won more CIF Championships in baseball. Maybe, just maybe, this is the year that sparks a long run of CIF Championships for the Monarchs. Just know though that you got 3 more to go to catch Orange County’s High School Baseball Dynasty which resides at 26301 Via Escolar, Mission Viejo, CA.
BBFan…Dana Hills may be 2-0 against Capo, but what you fail to understand is that it is not about winning every battle. Its about winning the war. And Capo has won the South Coast League War 7 years in a row.
Kenny Flippin’… I am not a Capo hater. I think Capo should beat everyone with their roster. They are loaded. What amazed me was the final v Mater Dei. The ridiculous sacrificing, bunting. What suprised me was that Zamora got overly involved in his batter’s at bats. For his legendary status, he sure gave outs away. Coach Call did not do that. Coach Call let the hitters hit from the first pitch.
If Zamora has his batters take this and take that and sacrifice this and bunt that then he sure is taking a lot of pitches away from his hitters to hit.
Not good odds for Capo. South Coast League is tough this year.
League is nice, getting deep into CIF is better.
im just wondering some teams are 1-4 and are ranked when saddleback high school should be there….their 3-3 people come on do your hw
I’ll let all the mater dei and capo fans argue while Loara keeps beating everyone in front of them. El Toro, Servite, and Cypress in a week that says something about a solid team. Great job SAXSONS keep playing hard and get that ring.
steve this blog is for varsity baseball.i’m sure we will be talking about saddleback high school baseball in the near future. walks as good as hit.
Loara can thank a big part of their success on their pitching coach. One of the top coaches in the county!
Wow, let the games begin. League games are about to start and it’s a long season. Even though the ball is round, it sometimes doesn’t bounce in your favor and the best team doesn’t always win! So for those of you above who have already crowned Capo and Mater Dei Champions… I say to you again… IT’S LONG SEASON and both the SC and Trinity league will be a battle. Capodynasty, keep an eye out for Tesoro.
Your right OCCoach! Well put!!
Trinity League a test? You have to be kidding. It’s a two team race between Mater Dei and Orange Lutheran. JSerra will round it out at number 3 but the rest is awful. Santa Margarita will be bad again!
please, that is a one team test. MD, OLU had its run last year. Gates, Mauer and Cole are gone…. Biley is their top guy and he does not pitch.
Capo can talk all they want about how they will win the CIF championship but they dont have the talent and they are always flat. i was at the md vs. cv game and mater dei totally dominated. CV got lucky becuase MD made some errors that cost some runs. Other than Matzic, capo has got nothing.
By the way, East Bound and Down is a terrible show, kenny flippin powers.
Keep your eyes on Fullerton this year people. Young and very talented they will be one of the best teams in the county for at least the next 2 years and maybe more.
Hey Showtime…nobody asked you what you thought of Eastbound And Down. I’m sure the profanity, strong sexual content, and drug referencing was just too much for your little innocent eyes and ears to take.
If any of you bloggers have a young left hander as a son I thinks it’s best you send him to Capo Valley. Tyler Matzek is just another A-list lefty in a long line of Cougar south paws. This list includes, Mike Watt a 2007 2nd rounder, and Frank McGlaughlin who won back to back starts at Dodger Stadium, and the coaches son Pete Zamora who was an All American at UCLA. The Cougars produce championships and the best prospects in the county. Oh by the way, Matzek just threw a no-no.
CapoDynasty, why dont you just paint a bullseye on Zamora’s back. That way everyone can take a better aim. Zamora did not develop Matzek in any way shape or form. Zamora did not even know what he had in Matzek as he did not even make varsity until he was a junior.
Send your lefties elsewhere if you want them to make varsity before they are 20. Right now there is a good junior lefty on JV who I bet is rethinking his Capo decision.
bbfan don’t hate on Capo, it’s not our fault you played right field and got one at bat a game in little league. You call yourself a fan due to the fact that the closest you’ve been to a field is the bleachers. Wheres your pom poms?
It’s funny to see teams ranked about schools that are in highers leagues than them selves. Lower league= easier teams. Higher league= better teams. So what if one good team in a low division can beat up on some crummy teams. Put those teams in a league like Sunset League and maybe there would be a competition. Maybe!
CapoDynasty I will see you this wed kidd. Dana and Capo matchup the truth will come first game of 3. Cool Matzek threw a no hit against aliso lets see how him or his pal chambers do against a team who can come around with a powerful lineup and a deep bulpen
Careful what you wish for baller, you guys are just like Aliso, all talk early, then zero late. You better hope Tago is lights out, and then maybe just maybe you get to within 4 runs of the Cougars. Like I tell every team when theyre about to face Matzek. “You better bring you lunch box, cause it’s gonna be a long day.”
“You better bring you lunch box, cause it’s gonna be a long day.”
WHO SAYS THAT KIND OF STUFF, WHAT A JOKE.
It’s early CapoDynasty…Yeah, the south coast league is a 3 team race, Dana Hills, Capo and Tesoro. You better hope you can win two out three in each series. I say no! and Stop embarassing yourself by telling everone you carry a lunchbox… cant they buy lunch at Capo!
Get some quality high school baseball talk on this blog instead of CapoDynasty maturity level. “Joke” is right, it’s a joke to read CapoDynasty lecturing people on talikng to early in season. Obviously practicing what you preach doesn’t apply to Capo.
Sounds like a bunch of bloggers who are tired of getting pounded by the “class” of the south coast league…….
