CapoPolo – El Toro has been hurt not having Rascon and Renteria this spring but I still think Capo Valley would have too much for the Chargers this season. The Cougars kept Logan Redondo on the frosh-soph for the relays. Now, that’s a sign of a deep roster.

I’m thinking biggest upset of day, as far as girls’ races were concerned, was seventh-seeded El Toro winning the 6×50 free. Chargers posted winning time of 2:36.65 after qualifying at 2:41.58. El Toro also finished first in 4×50 back (came in seeded fourth) and third in 4×100 free Congrats girls!

Santa Margarita girls won at finals with 94 points, followed by University (84), El Toro (70), Aliso Niguel and Capistrano Valley.

Capistrano Valley boys won with 96 points, followed by El Toro (84), Corona del Mar, Tesoro and a tie between Mission Viejo and Aliso Niguel.

Capistrano Valley also won sweepstakes award, which includes frosh-soph scores; however, if only varsity scores been taken into account, I believe El Toro would have won.

Dan, LOVE your polo and swim coverage. Would have cancelled my Register subscription long ago if it wasn’t for your articles. (As would have many other subscribers according to talk in the bleachers at the high school.) One question–Why are the leaderboards not updated with all of the swimtimes that are published in the boxscores? The kids get a kick out of seeing how they compare. You did a big coverage on the Edison/Foothill meet, and those swim times still aren’t on the leaderboards.
